I talked to DH and we got his return dates from Iraq. Looks like we will be able to spend our first christmas together EVER! Even if his tour is extended to 15 mos. What are the chances you think of booking this late in the game for the week of Christmas (12/26 to 1/3) at our home resort SSR in a one bedroom...do you think there will be availabilty? I will call tomm first thing...I hope this works!

One bedrooms are usually the easiest to book and since you are not at the 7 month window I would say your chances are very good.

Congratulations on having DH home. My DH was in for 13 years and I sure remember those days!

Last year I did SSR at the 11 month mark and Waitlisted at BWV/VWL day by day at the 7th month mark...SO I think your chances are excellent...I am hoping you both have a wonderful Christmas at SSR... Call tomorrow...you can always go on all Waitlists at the 7th month mark if for some reason there was no availbility.

I checked on Saturday and found out that studio, 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms are available during your travel dates at SSR and OKW only.

That is good news! I'm wishing you extra pixie dust on that ressie. If you manage to book it, don't forget to make time for the NYE pool party in the Congress Park pool. A number of us are going just for that party. (They do it up with games, food, drinks and an up close view of the PI fireworks without the admission cost or crowds.)

I'll be there for NYE along with a bunch others here. I have a feeling a DIS meet is in our future.

I was able to get that time frame less than 6 months out this past year so think you will be okay - Then I added days to the trip and with a waitlist added 2 days less than 1 month out. What a wonderful way to spend your first Christmas together

I booked a two bedroom the week before Christmas with less lead time a few years ago.

If you haven't already called, be flexible and then you can waitlist for what you really want. Remember with VAK opening for booking soon there will be some movement in May and June!
