Do you think Quality Suites LBV is our best bet?

DH & I are planning 8 nights in October. We really only need a place to lay our heads at night...not picky at all. However, I think having a fridge & microwave would be a huge money saver (plan on taking afternoon breaks most days so I'm thinking lunch in the parks & eat in the room before we leave again for the evening). Initially I was hoping for a $40-$50/night for regular hotel room but realize I might need to go a little higher for the fridge/microwave.

A friend visited Disney this month and stayed at Quality Suites Lake Buena Vista. They are $70/night and not only have fridge & microwave but also a stove top, dishwasher, utensils/cookware, and the bedroom is separate from the living room/kitchen.

My question for you: Can you think of any other hotels close to Disney that will have a fridge & microwave for $70/night or less? Or does Quality Suites LBV seem like my best bet? This room obviously has extra amenities for that price but if there's a hotel out there that just has microwave/fridge in a regular hotel room for say, $50/night, we might go that route instead.

I get the impression from trip advisor, etc that the hotel decor is dated but that really doesn't bother me if we're getting a good deal.

Oh, and I should mention that you guys suggested recently that I try to find a condo. I have tried... but I've not been successful finding a 1 or 2 bedroom condo that isn't already booked for those dates...not that I wouldn't take a 3 bedroom of course, that just raises the price quite a bit. :) EDITED TO ADD: Somehow I missed vrbo.com when I was condo hunting but just checked it out...this may be an option for $80/night. Not positive we want to spend that much, but if we did I know we would enjoy the condo!

I've found several hotels in the $50-$60 range that has a mini-fridge in the room but no microwave...I think it's the combo of the two that will really help us with food costs.

Thanks in advance for your input! :flower3:

I think that $70 is a good price for everything you get at Quality Suites. I checked Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista and I was able to find a price of $59. They have rooms with a mini fridge and microwave. The price may be different, higher or lower, for your travel dates. The reason I checked Comfort Inn was because they will sometimes be featured on Travelzoo for $32/night. They aren't right now, but they have been a couple of times in the last 2-3 months. I haven't stayed at either hotel, but I have not heard anything bad about either one and I am on these boards a lot. www.vrbo.com is an excellent resource if you choose to go the condo/villa route. The least expensive rentals I have seen are in the Grand Palms community.

Thank you for the suggestion Amy! I'm adding Comfort Inn to my "hotels to research" list. :thumbsup2

Howard Johnson Maingate East has rooms with a frig and microwave for $33.00 a night.

Just wanted to add my input, we have stayed here & it was nice. Nothing fancy, but clean & close to disney @ a great price. It also has breakfast, your typical continental breakfast but with eggs, sausage & waffles. With 5 of us that is a huge savings itself. The pool & hotub were nice too.

Now that is what I'm talkin' about! On the hotel's website looks like it's $41.99 to get the fridge/microwave. Can you tell me where you saw the $33 price? EDIT TO ADD: I found the price on Orbitz! Thanks!

Thank you Carri! The hot breakfast is definitely a plus (especially since it would reduce the food costs even further). :)

For anyone who is interested, I have also found Ramada Gateway that has one kind of room with fridge & microwave (Tower Room) for $62.10 with AAA ($69 without). I know someone who stayed here also and said they liked it.

So at this point I'm looking at:
**Quality Suites LBV ($70)
**Comfort Inn LBV ($60, double beds only...website states they have king size rooms available but they don't show up when I do a reservations search, maybe they're booked up already?) :confused3
**Howard Johnson Maingate East ($33 with double beds through Orbitz, $52 through hotel's website if we want King bed instead of doubles)
**Ramada Gateway ($62-69)
**1 or 2 bedroom condo (maybe about $80?)

Thank everyone, keep any of those ideas coming! :3dglasses
