Do you think PIF dates should be closer to sailing date for European cruises for 2021?

I rebooked my Greek cruise for June 2021, but PIF will still be 4 months before sailing. I was hoping this might be changed given the circumstances. If things are uncertain, safety wise, I will probably just cancel.

No, too early to say what kind of measures are needed by then. The first PIF dates for EU cruises are still about 8 months away, who knows how the world looks by then. Maybe there will be a treatment, maybe a vaccin, maybe EU cruises will not skip 1 season, but 2 seasons because ports won't be open in 2021.

I don't expect a decision to delay PIF dates for summer 2021 before November 2020.

I just made the final payment for our September 2020 cruise. DCL did not adjust the PIF date, even though the September cruise very likely may not happen.

In this context, I wouldn’t expect them to make any adjustments to the 2021 PIF datea.

I do not expect any more PIF flexibility. I think it just going to be "book a cruise at your own risk" from now until the foreseeable future. By next year it will no longer be the case that people are taken aback by surprise developments after their PIF like it was this spring; we'll probably know by February more or less what to expect four months down the road.

I agree.

Also, part of hte reason PIF day is earlier for expensive cruises is that people often back out of the more expensive cruises at a higher rate than other cruises. Moving up the PIF date is just a way for Disney to lose money from last minute cancelled trips they can't fill. (Remember, Disney is in the money making business.)

I’m wondering the same thing. I’m wanting to book the Barcelona to Rome sailing June 4, 2021 but just wary of what may still be going on with this virus. PIF is the beginning of February...if things are still up in the air I guess I’ll cancel right before PIF and rebook for summer 2022. I just hate everything being so up in the air. Trying to plan anything right now is pretty impossible it seems.

We should be in Italy right now. I'm working under the assumption that I wont be comfortable with traveling so far away next summer. I am mentally prepping for a 2022 replacement trip. That said, I dont think PIF needs to be altered at this point. I think by then you should have a decent guess 4 months in advance if its a good idea for you to travel or not.

Dont just follow easy to access news. Look at the numbers yourself, instead of someone's interpretation. That should help you come to a decision you are more at peace with.

As others have said its extremely unlikely. I cruise this year out of Europe and our PIF date has not changed so is still 4 months in advance. DCL are very unlikely to alter next years even if there is still uncertainty based on this.
