We are heading back down this month after a two week stay at Christmas. We have AP & DVC. Every person that we have told we are going back all said "AGAIN". I keep asking why are you jealous? It is at the point we do not even tell people we are going. Anyone else get this when they tell family/friends they are going.:confused3

We have friends that were like that when we bought in. Kept hearing "you're going again. Don't you get sick of it"

I explained Disney is our vice. Camping is theirs. Then they understood

I used to get this reaction and also, "Why do you go there so much?!?" Then I invited them along. Now they visit at least once a year, too! Problem solved! :rotfl2:

Note: The "Why do you go there so much?!?" person changed his rant to, "I LOVE THIS PLACE!" And now is a DVCer himself. It took only one day for his change. :rotfl:

We get it sometimes, but I don't let it bother me. We love Disney, so do some of our family and friends. Others don't love it, and that's okay. It's right for us. I don't criticize other people's vacations, and they shouldn't criticize mine. If they do, I just smile and move on. I've realized that you're never going to convince those who don't "get" Disney that it's a great place to vacation, so I don't even try anymore!

We all endure the AGAIN?? question, so you have to learn those that "get it" and understand and just share it with them. For those that don't I simply tell them we are going to our timeshare in Florida.

I think this is my sister when we tell her we are going(this includes non DVC trips also):sad2: .

We go Thanksgiving and head back for MLK weekend(2nd yr the boys get a 4 day weekend). Also spend Spring Break at VB.

We travel way too much to mention it to any of my kids' friends parents and the boys just don't talk about it unless asked. The eldest figured out that while he goes to WDW, alot of local kids just go and spend a night at one of the somewhat local hotel/indoor water parks.

I think most of us that go a lot get this kind of reaction for different reasons. Some people honestly don't get it and would rather go lay on a beach somewhere for a week and think that's just the great, not that there is anything wrong with that but I can do that for about a day, then get be bored out of my gourd. Other people are honestly jealous, I have a family member that money is tight for and her reaction is to tell me how I'm waisting my money and giving a list of things I should be doing with MY money but I know what her issue is so I just nod my head and sing the Mickey Mouse Club theme song to her until she just about snaps. Other people that also don't get it and these are the ones that I actually feel sorry for, have the money, have children that would love to go but always find something else to do instead and say things like, "we'll probably go next year". Why I feel bad is for a lot of those people they are going to wake up and one day and next year will be too late.

Yes the "Again" factor. It would never, ever occur to me to say something like this to any friend, family member or co-worker, who might I report frequently vacation to the same places. I'm happy for anyone who goes on vacation, where ever they choose to go. Some people identify Disney as strictly a kids kind of vacation, and it isn't. Everyone, that I have brought to the resorts, now see's the light, they may not purchase DVC but they see why I choose to go. The resorts are beautiful, the ammenities like pools, spas, restaurants, DTD etc., outside of the whole theme park thing makes it a wonderful place to get away and relax. Most people, I think associate Disney w/ a commando attitude of doing parks and rides and crowds and lines. As a DVC member I don't have to do that. I can do and see what I want at Disney , when I want and I also (whispering!) get to do other non Disney things in the Orlando area and still stay in a wonderful beautiful resort.

I'm convinced that you can't understand it, till you've tried it and experienced it, it took me only once to know that I wouldn't rest till I bought !

We get this ALL the time! People think we are NUTS because we go to WDW so much! Like all the other posters said....They just don't get it! We are really lucky though because most of our good friends LOVE Disney and have become DVC members....so they totally understsand the Disney Obsession! It is usally family that is not so understanding though. My brother and sister in law are relentless about it! They have three kids and have never taken their kids to WDW so everytime we go - we get some back handed comment about going so much. One time a few years back after a hurricaine blew threw WDW area she actually asked me "So how's the timeshare? Did it get wrecked by the hurricaine? What would you guys do if a hurricaine ruined your timeshare? I figured it got destroyed!" And she wasn't being nice or concerned about it - it was pure jealousy! It was like she wanted our timeshare to get ruined by a hurricaine! I just thought it was such a weird statement! Much to her dismay I told her it was fine......She was quite surprised too! It is awful to say - but we won't be inviting them to come along with us on our MANY trips to WDW anytime soon!! ;)

I get the "you're going again???" comment all the time, but I don't think it's because they're jealous, I think they just honestly have no clue that there's so much to see and do in Disney, but it can also be a leisurely, relaxing trip as well. Most of the people who make those kinds of comments to me are the ones who have taken their kids on the one obligatory family trip, in peak season, with no prior game plan or plan of attack. These are the people who I imagine spent their entire trip waiting in long lines, with whiny, hot kids because they didn't take breaks, eating hamburgers and hotdogs all week because they didn't think to make PS's in advance, and paying rack rates. No wonder they think Disney is too crowded, expensive, exhausting etc.

They probably picture my vacations as being the same way, and can't imagine why I'd rather put myself through that then spend a week relaxing on a beach. I'd go out of my mind with boredom on a beach all week, but to each his own I guess. I stopped trying to justify myself a long time ago, and now just say, "yep, we're going back again and I can't wait!" :)

We get the same reaction everytime we tell people we are going to Disney. However, it has gotten better. Because they don't say "you are going there AGAIN!". Now, it's "I guess you have to go there because of your timeshare". :sad2: Like we had no other choice and we're forcing ourselves to go. I do believe that sometimes they are jealous, but it seems so childish so I hope they're not. We made a mistake of mention that DVC offers many other places around the world and that started a whole new conversation. "Why would you go to Disney if you can go to Paris or Japan?".:crazy2:

And I truly believe some people just do not get it!

This year after my trip, I got "Aren't you ever going to grow up?" I was rendered speechless by this comment. I thought it very rude.

I replied that I have grown up. I pay my taxes, I pay my mortgage, I go to work every day, and I look after my children.

I just haven't grown miserable. I haven't lost sight of the fun!

I don't think people are jealous, they just don't get it. Poor them!

...well I guess I wasn't that speechless.

We got that for awhile too, but most folks figure it out in a short while, and just accept that we go down 2-3 times a year. We recently had some new friends take a trip to WDW. Before they left, we were telling them about WDW and DVC, and yesterday we got a letter from our guide thanking us for refering them to DVC. The funny thing is that we didn't refer them really. They must have inquired at a kiosk when they were down there and used our names.

Yeah I get that all the time. I even get it from my father who is married to my mother (obviously) who happens to be the DVC member that TAKES us down every two years. Despite that, he makes comments like "So? Sick of it yet?", "Do you wanna go back AGAIN?!" :) ...

If I get the "again" comment..i simply say...."My husband wants all my Disney Dreams to come true".....renders 'em speechless!

Get that all the time. The only one's that don't say that anymore are people we have taken with us. They get there and then say..Okay, NOW I GET IT!
People just think you are going to a Six Flags theme park everyday. They don't understand it is a "resort experience".

Thanks, I kinda like it too! No one should have to justify their vacation destinations...its much moe than worshipping a mouse :rotfl2:

I'm sure all of us have heard the "you're going AGAIN?!?!" comments more times than we can count. I just let it roll off my back. Some folks just prefer other types of vacations, and I can understand that. For instance, as much as some folks love to cruise, I have no interest in it. Different strokes for different folks. I just don't like it when people hear that I like Disney and then trash it. I wouldn't trash cruising just because it's not my cup of tea. Plus, inevitably, those that trash Disney had a miserable time because they didn't plan a single thing ahead of time and went the week between Christmas and New Years, LOL.

Walt Disney had a "Dream" for the perfect family outing...
and we're living it!
