Do you think I will need a stroller for a 4 yr old

If so how much are they to hire? Do you have it for whole of hols or have to hire everyday.

My twins will be 4 and we plan on renting a double stroller for length of stay. I have heard it's cheaper that way, and easier because you only pay once.

I have asked on another board, as well as several IRL friends, and almost everyone said YES, definitely get a stroller!

Our twins were 4-1/2 last trip and we still need a stroller, mainly at night when they got tired out from the long day. We bring our double jogger and absolutely love it in WDW. I'm not sure how much it costs to rent a stroller at the parks, but keep in mind that if you do that, then you won't have a stroller for all your non-park walking. So anything you do outside of the parks, you will be carrying the child around if he/she gets tired. We normally stay at the Epcot resorts and do a TON of walking outside of the parks. We walk to both Epcot and/or MGM each and every day, and we also do a lot of walking on the boardwalk. It's way too much walking for toddlers, in our opinion. In fact, each time we watch Fantasmic at MGM, the girls immediately fall asleep in the stroller as we walk back to our resort. It makes the trip extremely relaxing when the tired kids have a place to rest if needed.

As a pp said it is much nicer having you own stroller than having to leave the stroller at the park at the end of the night and then have to hold a sleeping child while waiting for the bus, on the bus, and walking back to your hotel room.

On another note the other option you have to stroller renting if you don't have one and don't want to buy a stroller you can always rent from www.abbf.com they are always recommended here on the Dis. They deliver the stroller to your hotel/room and they pick it up.

ETA~both the allearsnet and abbf website have the prices to rent strollers.

Our DD is almost 5 and we always need a stroller. There is lots of walking and
your child will likely want a break at some point.

I've never rented, so I can't comment on pricing....sorry.

Absolutely you will want a stroller. Our 5yo hasn't ridden in a stroller at home for over 2 years - not for museums, zoos, walking around downtown Chicago - but he needed one at Disney, both in the parks and around the resort at the end of the day.

You can also rent from www.abbf.com but not sure if the strollers are the right type for a preschooler. With them, you'd have the stroller for your whole trip, 24hrs a day.

When my boys were little we always stopped at Wal*mart and bought an umbrella stroller for $10. We did this until I think around age 6. They get tired and cranky trying to keep up. We would leave the stroller with the bus boys when we left and asked them to give it to a family that might need it. They said they would

DS was just fine last year, but he was about to turn 6.

Next year my youngest ds will be 4.5 and I pretty sure we'll need a stroller.-Now I debate whether to take the umbrella stroller or the regular stroller to help store 'stuff' in.

My oldest will be 6 on the 22 and we will be renting a stroller for him. Most of the time it just holds our "stuff", but it is nice to have when he just wants to ride and look at all there is to see. Plus, he is a bit of a slow poke at times so it helps to get to places on time, like ADRs. Not that we ever, EVER have to race to get to an ADR. *insert whistling smiley guy here. It is nice to have it, even if its just for packing things, but by the end of the day my kids (4 and 6) would be tired and it made it easier to have one.

I always take my own, besides being more comfortable it makes it easy at airport. I can stack both carseats on one side of the stroller (I have a side by side double) and still have room on the other side for one of the kids to sit or to hold other items.

We rented one for DS4 and DS5. I will rent one for as long as they will fit. The double stroller was $18.00/day or $16.00/day length of stay. Not only will it keep them from being slowpokes, it also gives peace of mind during busy times. Easier to keep up with them when they are in the stroller.

We ditched the stroller when DS was four and I felt so liberated! No searcing around for it after exiting rides/shows and no lugging it on the bus! He did great without it! Now I'm starting all over again though with DD!

Yes!!!! We bring our Chicco folding umbrella stroller which is a lifesaver. It is light weight and is very quick to open and fold.

Absolutely get the stroller!!! My son will be 5 in July and we are going in May, we are all for the stroller!!! He usually passes out after about 4 hours in the park , it is just so different down there, there is so much walking and walking and walking .....we are tired and our feet hurt could you imagine them? And it is great to hold stuff too.......

My son was 4 in November. We were in WDW last month and my son NEVER uses a stroller at home anymore. Of course I insisted we bring it and my husband thought I was crazy. Frankly, we probably could have done without it...it became more of a hassle than it was worth- between folding it for the buses, searching for it after the rides and just pushing the thing through crowds... I think we could have just rented one for the 1 or 2 times we really needed it. But only you know your child...my son is very active at home so I guess he just really doesn't physically tire that quickly that it was an issue.

We put ALOT of miles at Disney especially Epcot and Animal Kingdom and bring a cheap umbrella stroller of our own despite putting the kids "in training" long walks at home weeks before Disney trips. Stroller is key at the airport, to hold bags, etc. Even a 6 year old will do much better with a place to rest at the end of the day and often it was a sleeping child we've carted to Disney bus. If you don't want to push it around all day--you could always park it in a designated stroller parking so at least you had it when you needed it or just to get through parking lot/monorail/bus stop etc. I expect even my 8 year old will appreciate a place to sit at some point though he wouldn't be caught dead in a stroller outside the world!

You may not need it for the smaller parks, MGM for example, but I at least reccomend it for AK. For my DD3.5 we'll at least do that. When my DD13 was that age she did all right in the rest of the parks, but AK was where we had the issue (of course it was also opening day, CROWDS). We ended up carrying her through the whole park. Though Epcot is big, it is really hard to go through WS with it. We might use it through MK to since it isn't quite as tight. I think we'll rent just because we don't want to lug her bumbleride through the airport.
