My daughter just left two hours ago (7:00p.m.) for a school trip for a show choir competition. They are staying at AllStar Music. Our county school system would not let other school trips go to Washington D.C. or New York but let the Florida trip go on. I tried to tell her that everything would be fine and that she was safe. She was still a little worried about the trip. It makes me sad to think our children have to be afraid to travel in our own country. Do most people feel ok about traveling to Disney now? I hope so because we plan on being there this summer.

These are uncertain times and I'm sure you are worried about your daughter. My feeling is that she'll be fine. All kinds of precautions are being taken to keep us all safe. Just keep the faith and try to enjoy life.

Im going to disney soon and I generally feel safe about taking my young daughter. I really do have faith in Disney that they will take all of the safety precautions that they can take. Also, after reading some other threads here, I learned that there is a no-fly zone over disneyworld so thats also reassuring. No matter what bad or sarcastic things anyone could say about Disney such as it being expensive, just a money making business, etc, at the very least I have faith that they know what they are doing and will have a large amount of security around the park including much undercover security. That doesnt mean something couldnt happen. I mean, if the pentagon of all places can be hit, anywhere can. But, I think it will be as safe as anywhere else. When Im there in a month, im going to enjoy my trip and enjoy my time with my family.

Thank you both so much for your responses. You made me feel a lot better. I guess one thing we can teach our children is to be careful, but not to stop living our lives to the fullest! Now I can sleep a little easier tonight. Probably better than she will on a bus for 13 hours overnight.

I feel that she will be safe. As a Mom, I can understand your concern. However, I bet there are security measures that we don't even know about!

I think that Disney is very safe! They take many behind-the-scenes security precautions even in everyday times. I feel very safe taking a Disney vacation right now (we're going in May!!!). I'm sure that your DD will enjoy her trip and return safely :)

I think that you dd will be just fine-- she is likely as safe there as she would be at home. I know it is difficult to have her there, and you not be there with her, though. Once she gets there and settles in, she will relax and have a great time. Be glad that she has the freedom to enjoy a trip such as this. That is why our men and women, along with those of other countries are over in the Middle East right now... to preserve those rights, our freedom and to establish a more fair and non oppressive government for those who have been oppressed for so long. We honor them by not giving into terroristic threats. BTW, we are leaving on Sunday to drive to WDW!
