Trying to decide between a 5 or 6 day Park Hopper Plus for trip in September or buying the 10 day PHPlus and using half this year and saving the other 5 days for next year or two... with the typical price increases.... it seems like a good deal... am I missing something? :wizard:

We Have Been Doing This The Past Couple Of Years Because We Go Each Year And We Usually Spend 5 Days At The Park, So For Us This Is Cheaper Than Buying Seperate Passes Plus The Fact The Prices Do Go Up Each Year. The Only Cheaper Way We Found Being Dvc Owners Would Be To Buy An Annual Pass And Make Two Trips Within The Same Year.

It's a good deal if and only if you know you're going to use the exact number of days left on them next time. If you have to add to them the next time, it's not such a great deal. And if you lose one, ouch.

A 10 day MYW ticket with no expiration is $345.00 without park hopping and $377.00 with park hopping compared to an Annual Pass is $475.00. I would see if it would be adventagous to purchase ap's and get the room discount. Whenever we stay deluxe we say save about $100-$130 a night which adds up. We also bought the dde card and saved sooooo much money. Just a thought.

We're doing the same thing this year. We are buying the 10 days and will probavly use six or seven of them this time. Then we'll pay for no expiration at the end of the trip and have 3-4 day passes next trip. The cost to add it on was very little so this may save us money. At the worst, we'll break even next time if we have to get two day tix.

We found out the hard way that a 10 day isn't always the best choice. We have four days left, but need six for our next trip, and so it makes more sense to put the four days back on the shelf for at least another year (or two, actually), and buy completely new (expiring) passes, so the benefit of the 10 day gets delayed further and further into the future.

I think part of the problem is that the expiring passes are so well priced now. After you buy a few days, for just a few dollars more you can get two or three extra days. That pretty-much beats any other arrangement for us.

The 10 day no-exp passes work for those of us who own at DVC and take short trips to WDW. We are inclined to visit for a long weekend and only visit the parks for 1 or 2 days. In this situation the 10 day pass can last us 3-4 years and we do not feel rushed to visit a park just because the pass will expire in 14 days.
AP's do not work for us, cause we just do not visit WDW enough in one year.
If we did decide to have a big visit for say 7 days, we would just leave the no-exp passes at home and use them some other time.
Another + to the no-exp passes is you lock in your cost, so if the ticket price goes up in the future, it does not effect you.

We are going to WDW in two weeks. I have an AP, dd (12) will be getting a new one. The two of us will be returning to WDW in Oct for 5 days, and we are DVC so can get an AP for about $300. My dh's AP expired in August, and he didn't renew it since we didn't think he'd be going again within that year period. Well, things change...he is going again, but only for 3 days. An AP for him would have been $300, but I don't see him going again before June '07, so we got him a 10 day, non-expiring hopper. Yes, it cost more than our DVC AP but, he can use it whenever he needs it...he will still have 7 days on it, forever!
So, yes, there are a lot of instances where the 10 day, hopping non-exp. pass is a terrific idea.

I think it is a great deal personally! However, I am planning 5 days (in 2 1/2 weeks) and another 5 days in Feb 07, so I know that it'll be perfect for me! Plus the fact that we bought ours during the free park hopper and water parks and more upgrade, so we did very well on the price ($345 pp)!

The 10 day non-expiration is clearly a good deal only if the remains fully cover a second trip. It's a close call when a 10 day non-expiration does not fully cover a second trip but two of them left over do fully cover a third trip.

Two leftover 7 day non-expirations fully covering a third trip is usually a good deal.

With water park fun you can do two week long vacations with one 10 day pass.

We decided to do the 10 PHP. DH and I are going to TL the day before our Sept cruise. Then, in Dec, I'm going on a girls' only trip. IN '07, DH and I will be pulling our camper to FW the week after T'-giving. That's a 14 month span.
If I had gone with the AP they would have expired by the time we get there next November. It was the best way for us to go.

been wondering about this myself...hadn't thought of combining 2 for a third trip and the ap was nice but we ended up with only one trip so while the discounts covered the extra cost, it didn't cover the emotional trauma of knowing that ap was sitting there but only used once ;)

maybe if they had a free hopper or plus add on, i'd get the 10 day, otherwise i think since we only go every 2 yrs of so, it's not really worth it for us.(imo a trip paid for 4 yrs in advance is "overplanning" even for me :) )

We also go the hopper and water park option free so we dicided to bump up to 10 days and get not expiring option. We plan on using it for two or three trips. Days we do water parks are our down days and will not use a park ticket.

HI my DS and I are doing this , thank you for the info , can you also add more days with no expiration, also .

take care :goodvibes

and have a great trip

mary and family ;)

mybgirl -- I think the most passes you can buy in the US is the 10 day. I think you can get a 14 day in the UK, but I am not sure about that.

We got the 10day non expiration for our last trip. We spent 4 days there, so the next trip will be 6 days which is good for us. This way we did save money. We go about every two years, but lately it's more like every year.

I'm leaning towards trying the 10 day No Exp... especially since we want to do a day at TL or BB. One thing I'd like to confirm; if DD is 8yo and is 10 by the time we use the remaining days.. from what I've seen on other posts, they will exchange her ticket for adult ticket? at no addt'l cost? can anybody confirm that?

Yes, that's the way it's supposed to work, but I haven't done it yet. Anybody out there actually done so? :confused3 I've read other posts where they take the ticket to guests services, tell them DD has now turned 10 and they upgrade it to adult for no extra charge.

While they're under no obligation to do that, I haven't read any reports where they have yet to do so.

DH and I bought 10-day non-expiring hoppers last year. We booked 8 days/7 nights at WDD and used 5 days, which was perfect for us. We will be there in November for 8 days/7 nights again and will use the 5 remaining days. We also have 2 old hopper tickets with 1 day each on them so we will use them if we need to. I believe the 10-day ticket price increased by approx $80 each this year over what we paid in 2005!! When we return from this year's trip, I will start saving to purchase next year's tickets (although DH doesn't know there will be a trip next year yet :teeth: )
