:wave2: I can't help mysef! I didn't even realize that I did so much until someone pointed it out. My hands are all over the place when I talk, especially when trying to describe something. I'm sure I look ridiculous, but aside from sitting on them, how do you stop it??? Anyone else?

Oh I know I do!! Especially if I'm excited about something, they just fly all over the place!

Yes. My family tells me that if my hands were tied behind my back, I'd be mute. :)

I think it's genetically impossible for someone with Sicilian blood to NOT use their hands when they talk. :teeth: :teeth:

I'm 1/2 French and 1/4 Italian. It would be genetically impossible for me to not talk with my hands ;)

Yes,I'm afraid I do too! Can you imagine all of us in a group all excited trying to explain something? :rotfl: Someone would get hurt for sure! :rotfl2:

Both my DD and I talk with our hands. My DH swears it's dangerous to eat with us because he has to duck to avoid being hit. I think it is the Italian in us! :smooth:

I'm really bad with it, and the more excited I am, the more my hands fly! I can't tell you how many times my husband has grabbed my arm saving a server from losing a tray full of food or an innocent bystander from getting smacked. In fact when we go out to eat I usually try to sit as far into a corner or away from an aisle as possible LOL!

We do in our family- dh told us all to sit on our hands one day when we were having a lively discussion- no one could do it- as soon as the mouths opened, the hands came up!

It doesn't matter what I'm talking about, I always talk with my hands. They really fly too. I just can't help it. :confused3

Guilty. DS2 has recently taken this up as well. I'm sure he's much cuter than I am when he's trying to make a point. :teeth:

Ahhhh, you're a "gesticulator". :) No, I don't do this too much, but my mom and my cousin do and, I gotta tell you, it drives me crazy. My cousin has real long, fake nails and while she's flapping her hands about she "clacks" her fingernails. She nearly sends me over the edge when she gets going...

Me too! I keep thinking that maybe it means I need to learn sign language and be an interpreter for the deaf ministry at church.

My family thinks the same about me. :rotfl2: My sister is the same though.

I do and my DH does even more. I got it from my mom, who does it even when holding a butcher knife! You should see her son-in-laws the first few times that they experienced it. It became a family joke. :rotfl: The last time that we were visiting her we were eating a picnic lunch and she was talking with her hands when eating a carrot. The carrot flew out of her hand, which my kids thought was hysterical. My mother did not see the humor in the situation, however. :rotfl2:

I'm an Italian-American (1/2 Neapolitan & 1/2 Sicilian).

I talk with my hands even when I'm on the phone. ;)

I'm Italian, so I should talk with my hands, but I really don't do it much. My dbf (who's also Italian) talks with his hands so much that it's almost a distraction. I have to sometimes tell him to stop it before he backhands me by accident. :rotfl:
