Do you still get 180+10 if you only stay one night?

Hi all,

I'm asking on behalf of a friend who is staying one night onsite and the rest offsite. Would she still be able to book her week of ADRs starting with her arrival night, or just for that one day?

She will only be able to make reservations for her day of arrival and the day after her night on site.

If you think that's bad, consider this: We're staying on site our entire trip, but because we're changing from one Disney resort to another, we can't make reservations for the 2nd half of our trip until 180 days from the 2nd reservation. Even though we'll be on site the entire time, they can't link the 2 reservations together...

Thanks :)!

That does not sound right with regard to your situation. Can they not link it because of DVC issues or rules of some kind?

You can get the +10 if you call. We are staying at 3 different resorts during our next trip and were able to do the +10, even though we are only staying 2 nights at the first hotel.

Some people are reporting that this has changed and the phone agents are now limited to the length of stay, too. When was your experience calling?

Reports are that has recently changed. It is no longer + 10, but + the length of your stay.

180+10 has always really meant "180+length of onsite stay-up to 10 days max."

The change that people are having trouble with lately is that people with split stays aren't able to book their whole length of onsite stay at once, and many people are having trouble with the web site not recognizing the " +length of stay" part and only letting them book one day at a time.

Yes. Split stays are not recognized by Disney. To them, they are just two separate stays. So if you are doing a split stay you can only book when you hit the starting date of each separate stay. Not all at once.

We called that morning and the phone agent told us they weren't able to link our reservations together. I'm not sure if that's a DVC issue, or if it would be true of any split stay.

I sent an email and did get a call back from Guest Services, so I'm going to call tomorrow. Not sure what they can do to remedy the situation now though, given that BOG is now booked for dinner the entire trip.

Even though you are staying on site for the entire vacation to Disney you have 2 separate reservations because Disney doesn't recognize split stays. They cannot "link" the reservations and because of the change in the dining reservation system even the phone CMs cannot book beyond the end of the first stay even though your second reservation starts within the 10 day period of the first res.

If BOG is fully booked now, you can keep checking online to see if a reservation comes up. With the no show penalty there will be cancellations so be persistent. You can also subscribe to the cancellation thread for your month on this board.

Thanks, once that's up I'll subscribe.

My email basically just said I thought it was absurd that a corporation the size of Disney doesn't have an IT department capable of creating a system where the reservations for a split stay ca be linked to allow you to book for the entire stay. The point of the +10 is to reward you for staying on-site, yet you're penalized for staying on-site in more than one place. If I'm there and on-site the whole time, IT should be capable of figuring out how to fix this issue.

Until recently you could actually book arrival day and up to the first 10 days of a vacation if you called even if you had 2 or more different resort reservations. That changed within the last month or two so that now reservations can be made based on the arrival date of each reservation. Whether this was a conscious decision on Disney's part to something they perceived as a problem or an unplanned change I don't know. Perhaps if enough people let Disney know they are not happy they will consider changing it back. :confused3

As far as "linking" separate resort reservations, this is not possible and is less likely than seeing a change in the +10 for dining reservations. While guests might call it a split stay, each resort reservation is considered a separate entity, even if you are staying at the same resort. If you have 2 reservations at the same resort/same booking category you can ask that it be flagged as a continuing reservation in hopes of not having to change rooms, but that's about it.
