Like I wrote earlier...it's so HARD to avoid a resort where we have ENJOYED and shared such wonderful memories together. It's the feeling of "comfort," of continuity amd familiarity. We never feel we are returning to the "same place" each year, as so much changes in the span of a dozen months...the landscape, CM's, attractions, etc. So each visit is, in itself, new and exciting!
Having experienced EVERY WDW Resort over the past 12 years (W/exception of the AKL & Value resorts), we have developed our STANDARDS and FAVORITES!
I do agree with the poster about "changing resorts" only if you are staying for more than a week. Each year we have added new resorts, and exciting itnerary changes. This past summer we added the 7-night Magic Western C.C., along with the Peabody, PBH, DVB resort, and the Dolphin. We were on property, at these locations for more than 7 weeks total. This summer is going to be the same (length of stay), and we are trying a new property (AKL) and revisiting an old favorite (CR). We are also returning to the PBH, DVB resort and the Dolphin!
There is something wonderful about returning to a WDW resort property, especially if you have children. You can't help but recall the memories of when they first went down the pool slide alone, or ran ahead of you with excitement to the bus depot, or fell asleep surrounded by a bevy of plush disney friends! I see the "shadow" of our now teen DD, when she was only "4" YO...laughing and skipping down the halls of the East Wing of the Dolphin (from beach towel to beach towel...careful not to step in the LAVA~LOL). I see her "smiling" as a "5" YO from the window/balcony of our room, or sitting on my lap awaiting the bus to the Magic kingdom. Shadows and echoes of our past await us each year we return, enrobing us in a cocoon of peaceful assurance. The photos we cherish only remind us of the "magic" and priceless memories we have yet to make together.
