Do you speak Spanish?

This is totally off-topic, but is there anyone out there that has a few minutes and would be willing to translate (roughly) a short e-mail from Spanish to English?

Thanks for the link. I tried all thge online translations I could find and they just don't make sense. I don't know if they are having trouble with slang or casual language or what.

Spanish language slang varies a lot by country. Sometimes it helps to know the nationality of the writer.

I am trying to learn Spanish as globalisation has been the main reason behind the increasing importance of being able to communicate with those from other countries. For that reason, the second language US citizens are choosing to learn is Spanish. The trend now shows that Americans are studying Spanish in record numbers, but, most importantly, education in an international setting is becoming a top mandate for the American government because people need to be economically competitive.

Not exactly related to the OP's issue, but I spend a lot of time on the phone at work - and don't speak Spanish. I decided to learn an appropriate phrase IN Spanish, after realizing that talking louder doesn't help (would insert a 'hanging head in shame' smiley here if one existed): "My name is KaytieEldr. I don't speak Spanish but someone who does speak Spanish will call you back". My coworkers laugh at me - one simply because of my BAD accent, but both because it doesn't matter how many times I repeat, "Yo no habla Espanol", the person on the other end of the phone is off and running!

I hope you don't mind if I correct your Spanish, but it should be "yo no hablo espanol" Habla is the he/she/Usted form of the verb hablar (sorry, I'm a Spanish teacher)

I made the mistake ONCE years ago of not waiting for the child to interpret the proper number -- I had taken a year of Spanish plus my sister took about 3 or 4 years, she's older so I knew bits & pieces before I even took the class -- such as numbers 1-10, salt & pepper, etc....

I worked in a shoe department, I really had no need to wait for the person's child to tell me what size shoe they needed as I understood perfectly. However, apparently because I didn't wait they thought I spoke fluently - EGADS. After that I didn't care how much I knew exactly what they were saying, I would just sit there and act like I didn't understand a word & wait for whoever to tell me what they said even if I already knew 80% of it because they would have started speaking faster and expected me to have a clue. At that point I would be lost.
