This morning my ring finger was all swollen and purple, apparently I did something to it. When I told a coworker, she was shocked that I don't take off my wedding ring when I sleep. I never have, but she got me wondering, am I in the minority? So do you sleep with your wedding ring on?

I take mine off only once or twice a year!! MY MIL is a jewelry store manager and she if horrified by this.

I almost never take my ring off. I did for the last half of each of my 3 pregnancies (after dh threatened to cut it off when my finger turned purple with ds12). I also take it off if I am making something like biscuits or handling ground meat-something really messy. Otherwise, it and my engagement ring stay put!

I used to take it off every night, but then I lost it. My dh gave me the biggest guilt trip about it (although apparently it worked:confused3.) Since I've gotten the new one, I don't take it off at night any more.

I take mine off as soon as I know I'm home for the night and DEFINITELY before I go to sleep at night. The reason being is that my center diamond is set up high and I tend to bang it around a lot and it used to scratch me or my husband at night while sleeping.

I take mine off for showers and cleaning and that's it. I sleep with it on.

Mine comes off for surgeries, pregnancies, and messy cooking. That's it.

Ditto :thumbsup2

Lots of people I know only wear them "8-5" then put them on the night stand with their keys / wallet / phone....

What's the point of that?
A wedding band is not for show ... its a sign of commitment.... :confused3

Are these people only committed 8-5? :rotfl:

:hippie:

Not the original one anymore, but the three stone ring I got a few years ago I do :)

On our 5-yr. anniversary DH bought me a channel-cut band with nothing sticking up for this very reason. Right now my original set is sitting in my jewelry box; one day I'll figure out what to do with it.

I never take off my wedding ring unless I am putting on lotion or doing something messy in the kitchen.

I always do until latter stages of pregnancy.

I took them off b/c they were getting a little snug and I didn't want them to get stuck.

My DH only removes his for showering.

I would guess you did something to your finger that had nothing to do with your ring--and overnight the swelling occurred from the "something".

In the three years I've worn it, I've rarely taken off my wedding ring. I usually only remove it when I'm having it cleaned, or if I'm going snorkeling where there are barracudas, since they love shiny.

Actually today is our wedding anniversary!

I'll remove my engagement ring if I'm doing something messy like painting, or I'm going to work in the yard.

I never take mine off. DH takes his off at night because it's a little too tight and his fingers swell during the night. I don't know how he keeps from losing it but he loves his ring.

I usually wear my wedding ring when I sleep, unless I forget to put it back on if I was doing dishes or something right before I go to bed. Lately, I've been taking my engagement ring off at night because it rolls around on my finger and bugs me when I'm trying to go to sleep.

DH almost never takes his off, except when he's mowing or using the chainsaw. His finger swells bad every time he uses the chainsaw, he's had to have his ring cut off twice over that.

I had to take my rings off a couple of months ago because for some reason my fingers got swollen. The engagement ring I haven't worn in a long time.
The diamond is set high and I was told to be careful because I could easily loose the one diamond that it has. I may get them both resized when I get enough money.

When I wore mine, I always took it off to sleep. It doesn't fit me anymore & some year I plan on getting it resized. It was resized smaller when we first got it but after 4 kids, it needs to be resized bigger. I didn't want to resize it until we were 100% done having kids. I just haven't gotten around to it & money is too tight for that right now. Someday....Maybe for my 50th wedding anniversary ;)

I do know some people that don't take theirs off ever but alas, I had no desire to have mine cut off at any point (I also know someone who had their band cut off TWICE due to injuries), so once it started not fitting when pregnant with baby #1, I left it off...then it was a pain to have on when attempting to change diapers, etc...

So, here we are.

I very rarely take mine off - and when I do it's because I'm doing something messy. I do remove all my other jewelry when I sleep.
