I am trying to convince hubby that it would be cost effective to ship a box of "stuff" (diapers, food/snacks) to our hotel prior to our trip vs. paying for groceries at one of the grocery stores right outside of the Disney World Resort area.

I was wondering if anyone has ever done this and if it was cost effective for you? (and how much did it cost to ship the box and what size box was it?)

I shipped a box that had our luggage and snack/coffee/etc. The only thing we had on the plane was a small carryon. The cost to ship UPS from WI was around $20. I also packed what was left of the packing tape and a pre-addressed label so that I could pack it all back up in the same box to ship home. Then just took it down to the front desk the night before and had them add the shipping charges to our room bill.

If you go onto the UPS web site and enter in the weight of the box, where you are shipping to and from and when you want it to get there, the site will tell you what the charges will be and when you need to ship it. It worked really well for us.

Just make sure you put on the box, along with the address of the resort "Hold for Guest Arrival" then your name.

I forgot to add that it was just my DH and myself and we were there for a week but I did bring quite a bit of food so we didn't have to eat out so much and my husband does not pack light! But I did put everything in ziplocks - so the box was probably the size of a medium size suitcase.

but had bad luck. I shipped birthday gifts and Mother's Day gifts so i wouldn't have to pack them. I shipped with time to spare and in a well marked package with our name, hotel and reservation number. My package arrived three days after we did-missed the birthday and Mother's day. My package was torn apart and gifts were opened with no explanation. Also, I had to keep checking with the resort desk to see if it arrived, which was a pain since our room was not conveniently located. Many people her on the Dis do it and have success. This is my story. I don't know if anyone else has had a bad experience, so it could just be one of those things. I would try it again if I had to.
