Yes, my BFF and I always scream there. Just a short one, but it's tradition!

:thumbsup2 Yay! Its tradition with me too! Been doing it for years.....will continue to do it hopefully, for years to come!:goodvibes

I don't like when people scream, I don't scream.
But I am the annoying one muttering the ghost host spiel under her breath with a smile xD

I posted this thread in the Disney online games, community board, but thought I would do a poll here.

After having an incident in the stretching room, I wanted to know how many people scream when the lights go out, the thunder and lightning strikes and you see a skeleton hanging from the ceiling.

We always figured this was part of the fun of this ride, as there is a scream in the soundtrack during this part of the ride.

After what happened, we are wondering if we did something wrong by screaming during this part.

I went and read your other post... I am absolutely STUNNED that someone actually assaulted your friend for screaming. I hope they were kicked out of the park and their passes confiscated. They sound mentally unstable to me.

I honestly don't recall someone screaming when we were in the mansion, so obviously if it has happened, it didn't bother me. And, really, I cannot imagine why it would bother someone? :confused3 Don't you have the expectation that someone will scream on a scary ride?

Don't sit by me on TOT, I scream like a crazy person. :)

I don't scream anymore...LOL...but my FIRST time in the HM I did (a little! :scared:)

There were extenuating circumstances, though...

I was maybe 14 years old. I was in the stretching room with my mom, and was very nervous, since I don't like scary things. I felt my mom put her hand on my shoulder, so I reached up and grabbed hold of her hand, tight. Several minutes later it was time to move on so I turned around, only to find an extremely HANDSOME HM employee holding my hand. THAT is when I screamed! :lmao:

My mom, on the other hand, was rolling :rotfl:

My daughter screamed the 1st time and it was a real scream. Sorry if the little ones got scared, but she was scared and screamed. After that 1st time, no more screaming. She just hides her face on my shoulder (she is 13!)

In that room I do not mind, because Its kind of funny. But why do people scream at all????,when they see somthing,or on the rides?. Now I can understand with the little ones Its hard to control your emotitions at that little age, but adults? and do not get me started about the teen age grils:scared1: they can scream on a dime and really for no good reason but because Its funny??,or they are trying to Impress there friends there with:confused3,I do not know, but It does at times get annoyng. But Its nothing that would disrupit my day, just a thought.

When others scream, deep down it annoys me -- maybe it isn't JUST the scream. It could be the fact that the people that scream also tend to be the ones talking before and after that part as well. That is what really annoys me. I'm not talking kids -- I mean adults that know better. I expect it though, it doesn't ruin my enjoyment and it is great that people are enjoying themselves as well. If I could do without them screaming of course I would like to just hear the scream Disney wanted me to hear. Heck, I'd like to be in the Mansion all by myself, but that isn't going to happen either -- and I wouldn't want it to be like that or there would be no Disney.

My opinion - people who scream ought to leave the presentation to Disney. I don't think Disney needs anybody's help.
I can't express my opinion of people who recite, without breaking the rules of the board and earning points.

I dont. I hate the idiots who do, and try to be loud and obnoxious while doing it. It always seems like I get one in the crowd with me. Especially the girls. They are the worst! That ultra high pitch shriek drives me nuts!

I always scream and I do think it's part of the fun. But I will try to tone it down now that I've read that it bothers some people and it scares some of the kids.

But I don't think it's the end of the world if a child is momentarily scared. When I was a kid I also became scared in a Haunted house at 6 flags over Georgia. I started crying and had to be taken out. I recovered quite nicely even though I was always a very sensitive child.

Amen! These screamers like to say that they're just joining in with the spirit of the thing and its supposed to be scarey and all that. But the fact is that none of these screamers are actually scared when they're screaming. So if they're not scared, why are they screaming? Because they're trying to make themselves part of the show. And as I said above, Disney doesn't need the help.
Let the show speak for itself. This isn't the rockey horror picture show, where participation is encouraged. This is walt disney world. Let people experience the ride as it was designed.

No No No No No. :sad2: I hate when people scream at the top of their lungs right in my ears. The Haunted Mansion is my favorite ride of all time, and I want to enjoy the lightning and hanging corpse in peace. It's a cool scene, that when experienced without obnoxious screaming, is very cool and unexpected.

So yeah, I really don't appreciate the screamers. I got no beef though:laughing:

I am literally shocked that people think it is rude to scream on HM. I mean, it is a haunted house, the whole point is to scare you and your kids.
The point of the attraction, yes - and Disney does it very well, without Guest assistance.

I don't think the OP meant do you scream jsut for the sake of it, right?

I'd get very annoyed if people (over 10) were screaming once on the doom buggies, but that skeleton bit is pretty jumpy. So I can totally appreciate people screaming at the point.

I did my first time, and now even though it's coming I can't help but jump and grab my fiance!

The poll was closed- but my answer would have been in the rude category. It's not going to ruin my day- but I personally hate it when someone shrieks on purpose in everyone's ears- and it extra scares the crap out of my kids. If you have to shriek, go ahead, but remember all the people around you that are subjected to your screams.

I don't scream but my daughter sometimes does. It doesn't bother me if others do as well.

i do a little
but i dont let out a heart stoping shrill
i just go ahhh.
people usually dont hear me.

I don't scream. Screaming is obnoxious and rude. Disney's HM doesn't need any additional "enhancements" from giggling shriekers -- especially the kind that continue the unnecessary shrieking in the doom buggies. It really spoils the effect of the ride. Please be considerate of guests who came to hear the HM - not you.

I also wish other people wouldn't talk along with the narration. Even if you've been on the ride 100 times, and think it makes it more fun, there's someone in that room who has never been on it, and they came for the ride, not to hear your version of it.

edited to add: I differentiate between folks that have been genuinely scared by HM - and folks that scream to "enhance the mood". To the "mood enhancers": the ride doesn't need your help. Thank you.
