oxfordcircus -- Its NOT "an historic." It should be "a" unless you're going to drop the "h." Says so right here in my AP style manual, so it has to be right. I always think someone is trying to be pretentious when they say "an historic."

I can sympathize with those that don't pronoune their H's. I am from MA and some of us don't pronounce our r's. When i went to college I tried really hard to change the way I spoke.
Anyone else come from somewhere that they don't pronounce a letter?
I do prounounce my H's... but they come out as hew - hewge, hewman. No H on Herb's though, those are just plain erbs!
Now for R's..nope, they come out as "ah", I drive a cah, "I pahk my cah in Hahvahd yahd" I have a dollah, no quahtah's (as in .25cents). Everyone in my office makes fun of my accent. I'm the only Massachusetts native, everyone else is from PA, NY, NH, & Canada!!
