To read over again?

I save all of my historical books (9/11) - books about "The" Kennedy's - Princess Diana - etc..

Some of my really good true crime books I will save and read again in a few years..

There are some novels that I save - all the V.C. Andrews books - as well as all of John Saul's books.. There are a few others, but I can't remember them right now..

And I try to read "Gone With The Wind" and "Scarlett" back-to-back every year..

It depends... I was saving them but I did clear out a ton last year, only keeping a few of my favorites.

I also read VC Andrew's. My mom and I pass them back and forth!

:lmao: C.Ann, book threads are WAAAYYY better than political threads.

Yes, I do. The problem is that DH and DD read just as much as I do so we were getting buried in books. When we bought this house a few years ago, it had a living room and two family rooms. DH decided to change the living room into a library. I now have floor to ceiling bookshelves on three walls in that room. I am in heaven.

DD says that I'm like Belle--DH gave me the best gift ever, a library. :rotfl: I do still get a lot of books from the local library but with authors I love, I buy the books and keep the books to reread.

I'm trying..;)

I would kill to have your library!! Lucky girl..:)

I save some of my books. Most history and biographies are stored in the room we call the library. Paperback novels get passed on or go to the used book store for credit. Sometimes I donate them to the library book sale. DD is also a "book hoarder" so we are fast running out of room.

I save my Tolkien books. I was at Books A Million buying the 3 LOTR books when this lady walked up and told me not to buy the cheap paper backs. She said she was cleaning out her books and had some 1979 editions that she was doing away with. An that I could have them if I wanted them. Well DUH!! It turned out she had 6 of Tolkien's books that she gave me.

If I'm reading a set of books. I will keep them all until I'm done.

But I have found a book store that will take my books as trade for books. So I'll do that.

Every few years I bring them over to our church yard sale.

According to your tag, you're not far from me - whether I'm at the lake or back at DD's for the winter.. Mind telling me what time of year their sale is? :)

Yes.:)
I have quite a library with thousands of books. Many, many hardcovers and first editions. Many very valuable old books. I love to read and can go through 5 books a week given the time. I have many books on history, philosophy, poetry, non-fiction, fiction, science fiction, some mystery, horror, many classics, health texts, cooking, religion, comedy. I'm not into romance but will read the classical romance.
It is really hard to find ANYBODY to talk with about the books Ive read.:rotfl:

I love reading.

Mid July. St. Peter Lutheran Church, US 9, Malta, New York. I dropped off a ton of Civil War history and Civil War generals biographies this year.

I have saved many books over the years. Especially those that I loved as a child. I really used to love to read. Now however I unfortunately don't have the time :sad1:

One of my all time favorite books as a child was "Christina Katerina and the Box" I loved it and my grandparents had bought it for me and they wrote in the cover. It means alot since my grandfather has passed. I hope to read it to my children someday.

Now as an adult I have alot of different books, some I should get rid of but when I put them in the yard sale box, I often change my mind...

I actually wanted to get into reading Jan Austen, b/c I just saw the movie The Jane Austen Book Club and I would really like to read those. So in order to make room I may have to part with a few of the older ones.

Im a book, magazine, etc. hoarder. I am just now cleaning out my stacks. I sent a bunch of cookbooks and magazines out the door. I have 5 grocery bags and three boxes sitting in the back of my mini van waiting to be dropped off at my aunts. The terrible thing is that it becomes clutter and I start feeling antsy and choked until I clean out then before I Know it Im restocking just to redue this de-cluttering process all over. My dad call sit nesting. You can tell where my mom and I sit in our houses by the pile of books and such in that area.

Yes. What else would I do with them? It's not as if I have garages sales or anything. Plus, what if my children want to read them? Or a friend? Or DH. I do clean out magazines, except special editions. But books?!? Books are sacred in my house and always will be.

I used to save every book I ever read. But a couple of moves into third story apts changed my mind about that!

Plus, as I've gotten older, I've gotten into "less is more" So now I think long and hard about what books I keep. I only keeps the books that really move me that I'll read again. But that's not very many books.

I probably have about 150 books now. Most of those are spiritual/ self help, parenting or theater books. Theres a handful of fiction that I'll read again, and about 30 books that I have yet to read.

Thanks! I'll have to try to remember that for next year.. I love book sales! :)

We save a lot of ours, and sometimes take them to the library :]

I used to save all my books, then one day I decided to declutter and they all went to the local library.
