Do you report numbers to the Do Not Call complaint department?

I've been doing this for years now and I'm not really sure if I'm wasting my time or if anyone actually investigates these companies for violations.

I'm just really sick of people calling (most from call centers in Indian. You can say that your name is Brian if you want but I'd bet that it's more likely Samir) and then yelling at me to "shut up" before they hang up on me after I ask them why they're calling a number on the Do Not Call List.


I have caller ID but I still answer the calls because often times I will get "private" when one of DD's doctors calls and sometimes the teachers and para-pros use their own cell phones to call.

If it someone calling you and when you ask to be taken off their calling list, they yell and/or hang up on you, more than likely the number is not real. I know what you mean about picking up the phone because it says private, I still let the a.m. pick it up. If it is someone I need to speak with, I pick it up during the message. I've read things that suggest if you pick up to one of the telemarketers, they are usually looking to verify times you answer the phone and then will repeatedly call back during those times.

If the number isn't real, there really isn't anything they can do. Spend a few minutes just googling the number that called (if you get one) and see what they have to say. Sometimes just reading the first one (who called me, I think is one of the sites), they give you the name of the company, which you search and see all of the faked phone numbers and how nothing can be done.

There was a great guide to suing a telemarketer. I think the guy was a lawyer and he received an automated telephone call at 7a.m. or something. That was different though, it was a real company. They are supposed to be fined for each infraction, but we never hear if they are or not.

You could always play with them, look for Tom Mabe to get ideas.

The ones that get me the most are the automated ones looking to get votes for a politician. I am now taking notes of these guys and will send them an email to tell them exactly why they will not get my vote. I figure if they can't listen to what I want in the way of phone calls, they more than likely will not listen about issues concerning our area or state.
