I started Atkins on the last day of our June 2003 WDW trip so I haven't had to face this particular eating dilemma yet. What have you all done?

I'm off Atkins now but still eating low carb. My favorite meal in all of WDW is the Liberty Tree Tavern pot roast, potatoes and all, and I am going to eat it while on this trip. I think I'll do my best to stay on my usual regimen other than that.

On vacation, there are no holds barred! I love cheesecake, and I eat it on vacation and many other things :teeth:

Last yr while loosing the weight I brought along fruits, veggies & yogurts w/me - always book places w/refrigerators.
Now that Im maintaining (at goal) I do keep track of what Ive eaten (Im afraid if I dont, I'll go overboard) but I ease up a little more.

I did on my Disney Vaction only. My vacations to Vegas, Boston and Williamsburg were totally on program.

I definately ate better this time while at Disney, and didn't eat french fries (well I did have onion rings at the Sci Fi). I didn't beat myself up over and I didn't really gain anything either. I think it was .6 while I was gone.

Nope. Well, I may eat portions that are too large but I never eat foods that are off plan. It's just too easy to avoid potatoes, white flour and sugar :)

I go off plan -- and then it takes a month or two to recop -- pick your battle!

i just can't control or resist those "special" dishes that I wouldn't get at home

Like Melanie I only went off plan for out trip to WDW. What I decided to do was eat like I want to when I finally reach my goal weight. I made healthy choices, stopped eating my food before I was stuffed! :teeth: Having said that I ate everything that I wanted to, and I didn't feel like I had missed out on anything :hyper: When I got back I had gained 1lb, and that was due to water retention because of the long flights. The following week I lost 5lbs. I didn't think that was too bad for a 16 day trip.

Relax my plan on vacation? I couldn't imagine -- that's the time when it is easiest to maintain my plan, when everything is about having things done for me my way! We often focus our vacation around our exercise. This summer, we're going hiking in the mountains. For us, vacation is for relaxing the mind, and working the body.

I went on a cruise in early March. I was going to skip desserts, but after the first creme brulee...I gave in! Then 2 weeks later, I was on a roadtrip with my kids during spring break, visiting relatives and going to WDW for 1 day. And yes, I ate things I shouldn't have. My philosophy is...there are some foods, like creme brulee and pizza, that are worth the extra carbs/calories/fat (whatever you are counting)! I enjoy them occasionally without guilt.

P.S. I plan to really enjoy that Gino's Pizza at the Chicago DIS meet April 23rd! ;)

I'm at WDW right now!!!! and trust me, I see a Zebra Dome in my future!;) and there was some dessert at Cape May last night. Generally I still stay away from the flour/potato based carbs, but sugar does creep in on vacation. I will be watching though, and enjoying the sugar free chocolate mousse at the bakery in Norway! But I move around soooooo much more while I'm here that I general come away with no more than a two pound gain.

I'm sending this message from the free in room computer at the Gaylord Palms (we just stayed he one night...check into POFQ later today). This resort is incredible! And we got a Jr. Executive Suite off priceline for $85!!! (rack rate $500.....we have NO IDEA how that happened!)

Take care WISH buddies....see you next week.

Oh, I'm so jealous! I love Boma's zebra domes!

As far as my eating plan..... my plan is eating sensibly. When I do a buffet, I fill half the plate with veggies and fruit, one quarter with carbs, and the other quarter with meats/protein. I up my water. I do try the desserts, but I limit how much. I figure I'm on vacation and where else can I get zebra domes, fu fu, tonga toast etc. The one thing I do stay clear of is The Kitchen Sink at BCV! That is something that's a big no no for everyone  As far as my dd, when I get her a kid's meal, I get it with carrots or fruit instead of fries. I went to WDW in Dec. and didn't gain. We're going again for Halloween and next April vacation and I'll be doing that same eating plan, but hopefully I'll be at my goal!!!!!

I stay OP for meals, but I will splurge on a dessert if it is something I really want to eat. I usually can't eat the whole thing, tho, since the desserts seem so rich now!
