Do You Receive A Holiday Bonus or Give One?

It amazes me that some don't even give a small bonus, even if it's a $10 gas card to pay for them to get to work for atleast one day out of the year.
A lot of the builders here on the Cape give their formen a 10K bonus at X-Mas and then again on July 4, along with a lavish X-Mas Party every year in the finest restaurants here on the Cape. I've been to a half dozen of them, and what a wonderful evening, everything included, food, drinks, entertainment, lodging(if you need it). I think hard workers should be recongnized atleast at some point during the year, don't you? Spread it around a bit! LOL

We have to "earn" our holiday bonus. This year we have a sizable bonus opportunity for both November and December, but in order to get it, our sales have to hit Comp (Last year) PLUS 16%.

Considering that on average, the stores in our chain under our new leadership are doing 15-20% BELOW comp, I doubt they will have to give any bonuses.

They always do that. Wait and see what will be virtually unobtainable and promise it as a bonus and tell us "we'll give you thousands for your hard work"

:rotfl2: my dh is in retail......... :rotfl: :rotfl: this will be the first year for a bonus.......35.00.....wow we can get some gas for the car..........................Happy Holidays!

No, no bonuses for me. Last year my immediate manager took a group out for drinks and appetizers, I was deathly ill that day so I could not go, he kept saying he would buy me a lunch or something but never did.

My DH gets a bonus every year, some years it has been small like a couple hundred dollars, last year we got one thousand so that was a nice surprise. I never count on him getting one because the economy stinks here and he works for a small family owned business. Business was a bit slow at times this year so I'm thinking if we get one it will be small again.

Dh gets a company party for his bonus and last year I got a bottle of rum as my bonus. I felt bad about the bottle of rum because it came from my boss who has 13 employees and I know he doesn't make that much so 13 bottles of rum was a huge expense for him. I wish our company would do something, but thats not going to happen.

I help my boss determine our employees' bonuses each year. We have approximately 45 non-exempt employees.

We've always approached it as... your annual review measures your performance; but your bonus will be based primarily on your length of service.

With that in mind, we typically bump the bonus each year by $50 dollars. We have several employees with more than 10 years here - so they're up around $800.

This year, however, was the best year to date for us, so we decided to double everyone's bonus from last year.

I'm excited to be able to offer this to them, but I'm a little apprehensive about what will happen if we can't match it next year. ...I'm not sure if they'll understand why their bonus may be less...

I get present from my boss which range from cash to GC, to items and they are always around $100, then I get a nice bonus from the company that starts at $1000 and gets higher by $500 every year you work here. DH gets a small gift from his boss and a bonus in the $2000 range. Neither one of us want to attend the work Christmas parties even tough both offer it as well.

This is only the second year I've been with this company, but last year everyone got a $2300 bonus and then my management bonus was 2000 and that was a prorated amount since I wasn't here the full year. DH gets an extra day off each quarter instead, which I guess is better than nothing.

My dad has a small business that is seasonal and he employees mainly high school and teenage kids. Even though they only work in the summer, he still has a Christmas party and gives them a bonus...the bonus depends on the how well they did and how well the business did...unfortunately he doesn't ever get a thank you and so I think he feels a bit burned by it.

My dh gets two weeks pay as a Christmas Bonus. The board of directors has to approve it every year so I guess it is not guaranteed but he has gotten it for years....one year we got a full month, but the co. did over the top well that year....He also gets a performance bonus in the spring which is usually between 12-17% of his base salary.
I get a two week+150.00 Christmas Bonus and a year end bonus every year based on the performance of the program.
