Hi there.
I'm wondering if you really get burnt on a 3-4 day cruise? It seems to me you wouldn't have that much time to lay around in the sun with all the activites scheduled!!!
:cutie:

We didn't get sun burn, the weather didn't permit us to lay out in the sun too much. We went in Dec. Even if it was a 7 night cruise, if the weather is in a chilly side, I wouldn't be out there in my bikinis try to get some color. Hopefully next time we go, the weather will be a lot warmer..I mean hot, so we can enjoy the pool better.

Oh heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell yes. The Caribbean sun is very tricky. I'm not pale by any comparison, but I sat out for a mere 2 hours and got burnt like a lobster.

And getting a burnt neck, shoulder or arms can be very easy on excursions or just walking the top decks.

Heed the advice of sun-block.

Definitely easy to get a sunburn on a short cruise.

We went the first week of Jan on a 4 day cruise and I definitely got burned while on Castaway Cay.

remember, you're closer to the equator than you are if you're in most parts of the USA. Even if it's "cold" you've still got a lot of direct sun exposure and you can burn in less than 15 minutes.

and, don't forget all those people that sun burn at ski resorts ... cold does not prevent sun burn ... so unless all of your activities are indoors, wear sun screen. :)

We were on the Wonder last March.....I was fine until we went to Castaway Cay...I believe I would have won if there was a contest judging who wanted to imitate a lobster :bitelip:

use at least a 45 sunscreen and reapply often...the sun is no joke...

We use Waterbabies 45 when we know that we will be out in the sun for an extended period of time or in the water. Water"babies" isn't just for babies. It even works well at the water parks at WDW.

If we're not going to be out for extended periods and not going into the water we wear Clinique spray on sunscreen (it's either 30 or 45) because its not so "thick and sticky".

Our last trip to Castaway Cay I missed about a quarter sized spot up near my part in my hair and in less than an hour it stuck out like a sore thumb (or was that a Big Zit!. It didn't take long and let me tell you it hurt like heck! :sunny:

When outside in the Bahamas or Caribbean, alway use sunscreen because it doesn't take much to burn quickly, effeciently and more painfully than normal US sunburns.

I have only been on 2 cruises, one being the Wonder the other the Magic and DH, DD and myself are fair skinned. We did not burn but I saw plenty of people who did. I do wear a hat while outside since the top of my head, where my part is, tends to burn.

Like others said, more like in 2 hours much less two days.

Just came back from the 10 day cruise and we had lobster people the first full day already. I felt bad for them as they now have 9 days to blister and peel. Dont' skimp on the prevention if you burn.

Besides suntan lotion it sounds like it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring an after sun lotion or aloe vera solution as a just in case. Definately has lessoned burns in my case. I'm a pale gal who tends to burn and then freckle  What tan?? Its all those little freckles, more I get the tanner I get :earboy2: Really don't want to be the same pink color as my formal gown
