Do You Read/Buy Newspapers?

Every major newspaper to fold at this point has been in a 2 major newspaper town. That is a sign of the times. I see newspapers going to pay per view on line soon to increase revenue, especially locals.

I get the Lexington Herald Leader daily, Georgetown News Graphic 3 days a week(Tues, Thurs, Sun), the Cincinnati Enquirer on Sundays, and USA Today Mon-Fri. The largest of those 4 is also my employer.

Our local paper publishes 5 days a week. No paper on Monday or Saturday. .

Sooooooo nothing happens in your town on Sundays or Friday????:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I read the Enquirer, Weekly World news, Star !:yay: ;)

But seriously I do subscribe to the local paper and read it.

I'm watching World News Tonight & they just reported that another newspaper ran it's last edition. The P.I. in Seattle is no longer in existence.

I really enjoy reading newspapers when I travel, I think it's great insight to my surroundings & the culture of the town, city, country your visiting. But I'm really guilty about getting so much of my news on the internet & some on t.v. I love the NY Times but don't even buy that every single weekend.

Do you still buy & read newspapers? Do you think it's sad so many papers are closing or do you just think it's sign of the times?:confused3

Actually the news papers are fill of advertisement. So it's not worthy to spend money on them. that's why I read the news paper on internet.

Yes, I have the local paper delivered daily and read it!

One thing I don't understand is my paper has started sending me emails every morning (really early) saying here is your edition online to read. Why are they sending me that when I have the paper on my front yard? :confused3

Boston Globe, every weekday (okay, not every day - I read it at lunch and didn't have free time Monday or Tuesday; but I have the papers if I ever have time to catch up!).

And after the Time report last week, I'd feel guilty cancelling. I don't want to be responsible for its demise ;)

I only read online, so I can make the print more accessible. I'd probably cry if they charged for that. Then again, I'd find another one to read.

Delivered daily...Chicago Tribune, Wall Street, suburban Daily Herald. Delivered twice weekly, Mount Prospect Journal.
Purchased once or twice weekly, and daily when out of town/traveling, USA Today.
Online, during the day, PC/Blackberry, MSNBC, Chicago Tribune, CNN.

I do like news, and would terribly miss newsprint if not available.

Yes. When I was living in the NY area, I got the NY Times every day, plus my local paper on the weekends. Since I moved, I get the Orlando Sentinel every day and read the NY Times online. If I could get the Times delivered as a hard copy to my house, I'd do it. I prefer reading the real paper to the online version.

Enjoy reading our local paper cover to cover arriving twice a week and most of the Washington Post on Sundays. Some, like Army news I browse on line. We usually have the TV news on couple hours in morn and evening.

We subscribe to two dailies at home, I get one daily delivered to the office and I always buy a fourth to read on the way to work.

When travelling in the U.S., I'll always pick up whichever local newspaper has the most comics :goodvibes ; when outside the U.S., it'll definitely be the International Herald Tribune. (DW has learned long, long ago that one of the five cardinal rules for travelling with me abroad is that I have to have my daily IHT fix, so that I have something to read in front of the store when she does her shopping.)

And although I'm an internet junkie, I am not going to be reading the weekend version off my laptop while having breakfast in bed; the comics are the comics only when in print; and there is simply no replacement for an actual daily crossword that you can fill in with a pencil.

I subscribe to our local newspaper for Friday, Saturday and Sunday editions only right now. it's owned by Gannett and they have a crappy newspaper, wherever it is! I was in Orlando a couple of weeks ago, and I got the Orlando Sentinal just about every day, and I couldn't believe how good that paper is. It's what our paper was, until Gannett took over.

I know it clearly shows I'm OLD, but I can't imagine not reading a newspaper.

Did you know that newspaper readership (print and online) is actually the highest EVER in our history? With the staff cutbacks, however, many formerly outstanding publications are becoming pale imitations of themselves. When our country gets all its news through soundbites and blogs, it will be a sad day.

I subscribe to the Sunday paper, but only for the coupons. :rolleyes1

I get the local daily paper, and twice a week paper from DD's college to keep up with what's going on there. Both are available online, but I spend enough time in front of a computer, I don't want to read news that way.
