Hi everyone
Just wondering if the preferred section is best, or maybe a quieter area, we stayed at POP in 2006 and it was kinda noisy but not bothersome, we were close to bus stops, pool and main bldg, but I was wondering where everyone preferred at POP???
Thanks

Any section can be loud if your room is facing the pool. We don't mind the noise (I always bring my earplugs!) so we love the 60's pool-facing rooms. We always request them, but have only gotten it once. We usually get in the 50's, and to me, at the end of a long day at the parks, that extra tenth of a mile makes a big difference if you're going back and forth to Classic Hall for dinner, mug refills, arcade, gift shop, whatever.

we prefer top floor, 50s building, facing the lake

far far away from the pool noise, the ground floor passersby noise - it was just so nice and quiet there last trip...

to us, that's preferred!

I always go with a standard room because we need two rooms and the extra cost really adds up after several nights. We haven't been displeased with our rooms and was wondering what the difference between standard and preferred is??

That's our exact preference at Pop too :thumbsup2 ... and we don't mind a few extra steps to Classic Hall

We decided not to pay for the preferred location when we initially booked, and ended up in the 80's building facing the parking lot. It didn't take long before we agreed that the extra dollars were well worth the time saved by being closer to Classic Hall (get to food/buses quicker = more time to sleep!!) and moved to a preferred room in the 70's building. But that's just us.

Preferred locations had changed between our trip in 2005 and our trip in 2007. The preferred room we got was on the back side of the 60's on the third floor. View of absolutely nothing, far away from the elevator, pool, food court, shopping & the buses. For us it was not worth the extra money. Between that issue and other things that came up, we won't go back to POP. JMHO.................:surfweb:

From the map posted, the preferred rooms are close to everything. And that's why we don't like them. We actually had a preferred room in the 70s building. Before the smoking ban, we checked in late in the day and was told there were no non smoking rooms left. We were heading for offsite but were given a preferred room instead. We hated it. We rely on our car so much and it was quite a hike to the parking lot.

We're going back next week and I hope they put us in the 90s. I already have a request in for the room so don't want to ask for anything else. I want some quiet time. But that's just us.

I have yet to stay in a preferred room at POP..I've been in 50's...bldg 1 on the ground level towards the rear, bldg 2, third floor, waaaay to the back, 60's on the fourth floor, bldg 4, facing the lake (my personal favorite room) 80's ground floor facing the parking lot. They were all extremely quiet rooms. I have to believe that the rooms that face the pools, and are preferred, have to be a bit noisier.
I do have a preferred room booked for Sept, but only because I'm there for just three nights. We'll see what I think of the 'preferred' room.
Before they made the changes to the location of the preferred rooms, all of 60's was preferred...all rooms, all views, both buildings. I like the way they have divided up the rooms that are now preferred much better.

I just read on a different thread that some of the AS-Mu rooms have a privacy curtain in the bathroom area that you can pull to keep the light from shining on the rest of the room. It looks like only the preferred rooms at AS-Mu have this.

Do any of the Pop rooms have this curtain. My wife gets up so much earlier than the rest of us, and the bathroom light always wakes us up earlier than we would like. I am almost tempted to move over to Music if that is the only place that has this curtain.

Is this a preferred section @ POP?
Are the fireworks @ EPCOT visible from up there?

I'm planning.....:surfweb:

g3pak..
no they don't, but i read a tip somewhere that said, take a sping loaded curtain rod and something to hang on it and put it up for the early risers.

Great minds must think alike. After I posted the last comment about a privacy curtain, I thought the same thing- take a spring loaded rod (already have one) and a thick curtain and we are set. I laughed when I came back on and saw that you had said the same thing.

There are non-preferred rooms that are actually in nicer locations than the preferred - facing the water. However, with non-preferred its a risk. I once stayed non-preferred and my first room was in the 50's right behind one of the dancer figures attached to the railing so you couldn't really see anything. We ended up asking for a change and getting moved to a truly great non-preferred room which was the back side of the play-doh building looking right out at the water (room 4354). I thought this was one of the best combinations of a good view and good location. If you want to request a particular location, I'd recommend this one.

But the next time we went, I didn't take the risk and paid for preferred. I ended up in a conveniently located but not-particularly attractive first floor room right by where the service vehicles are sort of parked. With preferred you are definately going to get a convenient and decent location. But I do think that there are nicer views to be had.

when we went in '06 we stayed on the very back side of the 50's building facing the 50's parking lot and we COULD see the fireworks at night :) I didn't much like our room location. It was WAY too far away from classic hall and after walking all day and having blisters I didn't want to have to walk that far to refill our mugs.

If needed, check out Post #1 on the POP FAQ thread, and you'll have dimensions as well as a link to a photo of someone's curtain they brought. Just do a page search (Cntrl F) for curtain, and you'll find it easily. :-) I agree it's a brilliant idea!

DH and I have stayed at POP twice - both standard rooms. The first time we were in building 10, facing a courtyard. It was great for us. Very quiet. The second time we were in building 4, facing the lake. We loved that location except for one thing. It was as far from the parking lot as you could be, and we drive everywhere. I believe that on both occasions CMs did their best to put us in a fairly quiet location.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Any even easier way is with 2 Command adhesive hooks and some string........I've already got them packed:rolleyes1

After reading all these remarks I'm worried about my stay at POP this June/July. We are staying 2 weeks and noise is a major issue for me. I booked a preferred room and plan to request a quite location but I'm really having second thoughts about POP all together. My youngest DD really wants to stay at POP, as do I, but I don't want to be upset and feeling let down because I'm not enjoying the resort.

:confused3 :confused3 :confused3
