Do you prefer one long trip each year or 2 or 3 shorter trips each year?

I much prefer 3-5 shorter trips per year while DH prefers one-two two week trips per year. Although I get 5 weeks paid vacation each year, its very hard for me to be away from work for more than a week at a time; I REALLY don't want to start working while on vacation. However, the cost of airfare is keeping us to one (sometime two) Disney trips per year.

We usually go 2x a year with each vacation lasting 14 nights. We prefer longer stays so that we can relax and not feel rushed. Also, our airfare is very expensive (family of four $2800-$3200/return) so we like to be able to get our money's worth for each trip.:thumbsup2

Furthermore, I don't like flying...so fewer and less time in an airplane - the better.

Actually, we really only stay 6 days once a year, and then I do 3 night stays once or twice a year with my friends or cousins. I certainly prefer the longer stays, but couldn't do without the shorter stays cause I don't like the 12 month wait between trips. I've been thinking 6 days is not long enough either, I'd like to try a stay for about 10 days!

We generally go for 14 days around February/March, then try to go from 5-7 days in the autum. And if my wife can get the time off, like to go in nov/early december too for 4 or 5 days.
We generally use 2 bedroom units. On our last trip, we spent a few days in a studio at OKW. We ended up in the Handicap room. Really didn't prefer that, but oh well. We'd probably get a 1 bedroom the rest of our stays when it's just my wife and i. We like having the washer/dryer capabilities.

We live far away and the kids are busy so right now it makes more sense for us to do one long (10 days or so) trip each year rather than several small trips.

We buy APs and take two ten day trips in twelve months. Then we take twelve to fifteen months off and do it again. Last time we took twenty-four months off and that was too long between trips.

For the first two years with DVC we were coming once a year and staying in a 1 bedroom. However, the 12 month period is way too long for us and as an example we are going on:

Halloween for 4 days
Spring Break for 5 days
July 4th for 5 days, all in a studio on 240 points.

Granted the studios are not as lavious as a 1 bedroom but they are still better than the average disney report and they have balconys which I like.

Coming from the North East of England, the cost of flights and travelling distance means we tend to visit only once a year but staying 14 nights. We usually combine this with an extra week either elsewhere in the US or a Caribbean cruise.

We usually also have a couple of shorter stays elsewhere in Europe each year which often includes Eurodisney.

Ideally I would like to take 2 trips a year. A 2 week trip because it would be relaxing and I could hit the parks at my leisure and a 1 week trip because I don't want to wait a full year before returning.

Unfortunately, my fiancee only gets 2 weeks vacation per year from her job and, while she loves Disney, she likes to travel other places instead of Florida all the time.

Maybe things will be different when her writing career takes off.:cool1:

and why???? :goodvibes I am sure some people will say they prefer 2 or 3 LONG trips each year too.

As we approach being members for 3 years....I am starting to see that we might like to go a couple of times a year for shorter stays of like 4 or 5 days vs one long stay in the summer for 10 or more days. The past two years we have gone for a long summer trip, a week in Nov. and about 5 or 6 days in Jan. Well we are going to scale back on these longer trips. I am thinking this next year we will do 4 or 5 days in Jan. and about 5 or 6 this summer at HHI and another 4 in Oct.

Just curious.

We're short trippers (5 days max). We need to have something to look forward to and do at least 4 times a year (DVC and non-DVC). However, we're planning some long National Park trips for the future. Saving our train points for it.

It's difficult for me (although not impossible) to get an extended vacation from work and so I vote for 2-3 stays per year. WDW is driveable for me, so the travel expenses don't overwhelm my travel budget. However, I would like to try to schedule and extended stay some time in the future it I can work it out.
