Do you prefer Disney as an adult?

Never went as a child. My first trip was as a adult with my husband and 5 year old. Then I took my parents. Eventually I just took my father (my son was in college then). Those were my most precious memories. My father loved disney. Such great memories. We used to leave the parks hand in hand to the parking lot. He is always in my thoughts when I am there.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one! And I have to agree with enjoying dining more as an adult and actually looking forward to crawling into bed at the end of the day :rotfl2:

Having children is just an excuse for adults to go to Disney World.

Control. As a kid I only went the 2 -3 parks days my parents took us. Most of the time they dictated which rides and where we eat. We stayed at a Days Inn. While I am thankful I got that much as a child now as an adult I do Disney my way and love it.

I loved it then, and I love it now! The way we "do" Disney now is a lot different than it was when I was a kid, though.

Just returned from my second adult trip a few weeks ago. Honestly I had more fun on these trips than I had as a kid.

What I enjoy-- Looking at all the details put into different areas such as ride queues. As a kid it was all about the rides but as an adult I enjoy just walking around admiring the amazing detailed areas Disney has created.

Late night EMH. Never did these when I was young. It's so much fun to be in the parks late at night and barely wait for any rides.

Dining-- the different dining experiences in Disney are amazing. I wasn't interested in our meals when I was a kid but now I really look forward to the ADRs I make.

And for me it doesn't get better than walking around World Showcase during sunset with a drink in my hand. It's just the best!!

I loved it as a kid, and I think I love it even more now! As many PPs said, you can't explain it, you just have to experience it! Everything about Disney just makes me so happy :)

The two times I remember going to Disney I was 9 with my family and then last year at 24 just with a friend. I enjoyed each time. Each in a different way. Both times had the special magic that you could only feel at Disney. Meeting the characters were great no matter what age because once you were in front of them they were the characters. What I loved most about my adult trip was that I could make my own plans. I was always the type of kid who would wander off to look at something interesting. It was much freer being able to take a few moments to myself to look at some detail or other without having to worry about being left behind.

We do Disney often with the kids and just the adults. I love it both ways.

With kids we're on the go more and we fit in more rides. Which is good.

With adults, we slow down, drink and eat more. Which is also good.

Your coworkers suck and have no idea what it is to be human. Take a dump on your boss' desk, tell off your colleagues, break something, then move to disney and enjoy.

I went a few times as a kid with my family but my first trip, I was 9 years old, so I was out of that "magical" age of the characters being real and none of the rides being for "little kids." I had a good time and enjoyed Disney on those trips as an older child/tween/teen with my family. But I truly LOVE it as an adult, and possibly even more so as a parent!!

DH and I went on our honeymoon, and I think that's when we both really fell in love with WDW. We went back once again a couple years later before our son was born, thinking we needed to "get it out of our system" and we wouldn't be back until our kids were older and able to ride everything. We couldn't have been more wrong! Our 3 1/2 year old is about to experience his 4th trip to WDW and has one to DL under his belt as well. I think it had everything to do with being older on my first trip, so I hope DS will always love the magic as much as he does now and it only gets better as he gets older. :goodvibes

I went to Disney as an adult before I had kids maybe 5 or 6 times. I actually joked I'd stop going once I had children so I wouldn't have to push a stroller and deal with whiney crying kids who would ruin my vacation, lol. But in the end I couldn't not take my kids to Disney.

I still love the rides and honestly, they fascinate me even more as an adult. I go on them and I can help but be blown away by the attention to detail and wonder how they create some of these attractions. I'm not sure if it would ruin the magic but I think I'd love to see them with the lights on behind the scenes.

I'm also way more into eating when I'm there now. I LOVE to go during Food and Wine or Flower and Garden festival for all the tasty treats.

I only went to MK once as a child, but it still holds a very nostalgic feel for me. I really feel like I get to be a carefree kid again when I'm there.

I really enjoyed the trips I took as a child. we only went twice when I was young, I think about 1983 and 1986.

I have so many vivid memories from those trips that since much of Disney has remained the same, brings me back to being a child again.

The one thing I really remember from years ago, was the smell in Spaceship Earth when you get to the dark ages when it smells like burning or smoke. It still smells the same today and brings me back in time.

My wife and I have been to many trips in the past almost 11 years together. I take it in more now. We have two girls who enjoy it and I know we will have so many good memories. Being older, I can enjoy and keep the memories a little more with them than trying to remember when I was a kid.

I think it is as good, if not better to go to disney as an adult. (especially since I can drink around the world now) lol

My husband and I both were never to Disney as kids. We took our first trip in 2012. I will never forget my children's faces the whole week. I'm sure mine was no different. We were amazed by everything Disney had to offer. Our next trip is booked for Sept of this year :)

I only went to Orlando once as a child and I have very few memories of it - I remember Splash Mountain with my dad (we have a ride photo) and I remember going to Nick Studios at Universal and my parents got slime dumped on them. :lmao:

But I love going as an adult because I'm undeniably in charge of my own experience. I can choose what to ride, where and what (and when) to eat, what shows to see, what characters to meet, what resort to stay at, when to go... All the same reasons I love solo trips really. :thumbsup2

Your coworkers suck and have no idea what it is to be human. Take a dump on your boss' desk, tell off your colleagues, break something, then move to disney and enjoy.

Nothing says "you should act more like a human" than taking a dump on a desk. :thumbsup2

I love going to WDW as an adult, I go often. I like it even better now that I don't have to take and deal with children. Lots of adults go and just hang out for awhile.

I booked myself a trip for the 24 hour event alone. No worrying about naps or diapers. I had not been to Disney in about 8 years and forgot how great it is.

I never was able to go as a kid so my first trip was with my own children. We've been going fairly regularly since 1996. It's my vacation of choice ( I'm in my early 50's now) and I still enjoy it. I don't know what it is about Disney that I enjoy the most, to me it just feels like magic. My family and I are going again in May and we're all adults now. I have two 23 year olds, one 26 ( nearly 27) and two 50 something's going and very excited about it. You're never too old for Disney and I really dislike when people give me that puzzling look when I tell them I'm going.
