I am planning on eating at quite a few signature restaurants my next trip so I will have to use my ts credits wisely. I am planning on paying OOP for Ohana's and Boma since the price of those meals isn't that expensive and it already includes dessert. I also am considering eating at California Grill but since the entree I order is only $24.99 I may just pay OOP and use 2 credits at Narcoose's for lobster. I may even pay OOP for Artist Point which has a prix fixe menu for $46.99 depending on what restaurants I finally decide to dine at. Am I the only one who pays OOP for meals?I should also add I do travel alone so I am just paying for myself.I just really like the signature restaurants but I think the value of the meal should be atleast $60.00-$70.00 to make it worth 2 TS credit.I won't have any trouble spending $ 70.00 at Narcoose's,Jiko, and Citricos. So am I crazy?:confused3
Thanks!!!:)

No, you're not crazy. Not any crazier then the rest of us anyway. ;) I'm planning on paying OOP at CP when I eat there for breakfast, (since that's only $15 with my DDE card,) and possibly one other meal, (maybe Akershus,) so I can eat at two signature restaurants for "free."

Yep...we aren't doing any 2 TS meals at all, but we sometimes like to have an early character breakfast, and then a sit down dinner. We have all of our TS credits planned, and are paying OOP for 'Ohana breakfast and CP breakfast (because those are our least expensive meals), and tea at the Gardenview (GF) because they don't take the DDP anyway. Your $60-$70 rule of thumb for 2 TS meals makes perfect sense.

Dh & I are paying OOP for LTT at lunch and maybe Spoodles. We like to have several TS on vacation. LTT I just want a sandwich and that awsome looking Pound Cake dessert.:cloud9:

We do. In May, I have 12 table service meals planned and only 8 nights worth of credits. I don't mind paying the extra oop, when I added up what we would spend without the dining plan, it still worked a little cheaper to go with the dining plan and pay oop for the few meals we will.

yes, we pay OOP while on DDP

going for 7 nights

planning 2 dinners at narcoosees (2 TS each night - we like the food here that much!!!)

then 3 meals at 1 TS (coral reef, 50s primetime, liberty tree tavern lunch)

will pay OOP for lunch at sci-fi

will eat CS for other meals, using snack credits at F&W

and last full day - we'll just eat whatever (credit or cash)

this is what works for us

Thank you all for the great response!!!!!
I am so glad I don't need therapy.:rotfl: All though I may need therapy for overly planning and obsessing about my trip to WDW in 8 monthes.I don't think I would be alone though!!!!!!:rotfl:

We like to have a hot breakfast each morning. Since you can't get the fruit bowl as a dessert when you use a CS credit for breakfast, I'll just pay OOP.

One snack a day isn't enough for us (we need our snack fix:rotfl2: ) so I'll pay OOP for the extras.

Also, I won't use a snack credit for bottled water or soda.

I don't think I will be either. I told DM that when we go I want to use most of our snack credits for items at the Food and Wine Festival booths. And of course, Dole Whips, and Figaro Fries at MK. :goodvibes

DH and I like to eat both sit down breakfasts and sit down dinners while we are on vacation. We use the ddp for dinners and pay oop for the breakfasts. That works for us.

We pay OOP too. Last time it was for The Plaza Restaurant and Yorkshire Fish. This time we will be paying OOP for Donald's Breakfastosaurus.

Thanks for the great responses. I really would rather pay OOP for a couple of less expensive meals ( by WDW standards) like Ohana's and Boma and have an extra signature meal.I really do enjoy a good meal and since most meals will be covered by the DDP it shouldn't be so bad.
Thanks again!!!!!!!:)

We're OOP for CRT for lunch as the price is just a few dollars more than a 1 credit TS. Don't think it's worth wasting two credits and would rather do 1900 Park Fare and Plaza (both dinner) with the credits instead. I figured it to be a better value. I think so many folks feel a need to go strickly DDP and no OOP because DDP is prepaid and don't want to break deeper into the budget. So they will only do as many TS as they have credits for and nothing more. But we see DDP as an "enhancement". Glad you see it the same way! :cheer2:

We do OOP for breakfast, sort of.

There are 3 of us, and we usually only order 2 CS meals for lunch, and share everything. So we have 1 CS credit for breakfast. What we do is order one breakfast platter and get a bottle of water for later (I don't mind drinking fountain/CS water but DH doesn't like the taste, so he gets the bottle) for 1 CS credit. We also get a fruit bowl and use a snack credit for that. Then I get 3 orders of toast (69 cents each) and pay OOP for that. So when I get to the cash, I have one tray and tell the cashier to use 1 CS credit, 1 snack credit, and pay cash for the toast (just over $2) and then we each get an order of toast, and a taste of everything on the breakfast platter, and a bit of fruit. We use our refillable mugs for coffee, hot chocolate, etc. And that's our breakfast!!!

I'm getting excited about it already! I'll be at ASSp May 4-9 and then Pop in Sept for (hopefully) free dining!

I am doing 21 days at DW but will be paying out of pocket for Earl of Sandwich and Beaches and Cream as they are not good value on the ddp. Also going to Victoria and Alberts which isn't on it.
