I have a few that I inherited. Mostly my cousin has them all since when we went to Disney one time she came to visit my grandma and my grandma let her clean out the china closet, said some of it was for her wedding present, well she is approaching 50 and still hasnt gotten married. And sweet grandma said I didnt tell her I wanted anything, what? Well I am the one who took sweet grandma into our home and took care of her for almost 2 years while my cousin didnt help do anything.

Both dh and I have had to clean out our parents houses and we got an antiques guy to come in. He wanted a few things so I know what I do have is good. One is a what not stand. Its a small carved wooden 3 tier shelf thing.
One is a clock supposedly from Germany. The antique guy wanted that too.
Also I have a tablecloth that my great grandmother made out of crocheting and tatting. One jelly crock that is dated like from the 1800s, some pictures with a man from the civil war in it, supposedely a relative and a dish/bowl that is either fanny crosbys or fanny crosbys housekeepers. My grandma said one of them gave it to my great grandma, she thinks the housekeeper. Fanny Crosby was a blind woman from Conneticut who wrote religious songs.
From DH house we got his old GI Joe, the antique guy wanted that too and his space capsule and a really old ratty mickey mouse. I need to clean that up.
How about you?

Ooooooo please be careful with the "ratty" Mickey Mouse. Cleaning it could damage it beyond your wildest dreams. You sure have some nice treasures there. The Civil War photo sounds really interesting too!! Oh oh and that space capsule, very neato and collectible depending on which one it is. There were a few of those made over the years.

I've got tons of stuff, mostly little things. Inherited 3 households full so there's a little bit of everything, from linens to toys to ephemera.

You bet I own some antiques and honey, you'd better be careful before you let an antique dealer run off with those. You need to do your own research on their value and sell them on your own if you can. Antique dealers are in it to make money and will quickly take advantage of those who don't know a darn about their value.

My mom inherited a piece of JUNK for a dresser all banged up and looked awful. We looked up the value and it was worth $3,000 in that condition! We sold it for that too to a horse breeder.

I have a handcarved cherry 4 poster bead they used to be a rope bottom feather bed. I have a pie safe and a couple of dressers. The bad thing though is most of my pieces were refinished about 50 years ago. :guilty: I also have a mantle clock that was a 'family clock'.

The house my father lives in was built by my great grandparents. My grandfather was born in the house and lived there until he died. So there are was a lot of family heirlooms still there until my brother and exSIL moved in and strangely a number of things 'disappeared'.

My dining set is Thomasville 1939.
I have an upright secretary desk 1924.
Other pieces that are around 50 years old.

Oh, yeah, and my husband, he soon will be an antique.... what do you think I can get for him?

I have an organ in my living room. A hooser in the dining room. a few cabinates here and there. Many nicknacks, a sewing machine that is inside of a table (I can't think of another way to discribe it) and several other things.

we're an antique loving family.

I have a washstand with a marble top that belonged to my great grandmother.( late 1800's) I also have a clock that belonged to my grandparents that I believe was a wedding present. (1930) There is a set of Limoges dishes that I also have. I really don't know for sure how old they are, but my mother had said when she got them when her father died that they were around a 100 years old. I have done a small amount of research on those and did find out they aren't the REALLY special limoge that is out there. However, they are hand painted and I have a set of 12 place settings with a lot of serving pieces.

I have a cedar chest that belonged to my grandmother. Not sure how old it is. All my mother could remember is that my grandmother had it before they moved from Kentucky to Florida. An old corner hutch that belonged to my great aunt. I also have an child's chair that belonged to her. My father had it refinished for me as a birthday present one year. The person that refinished the chair, even left in the initials my great aunt carved into the chair when she was a child. But my most prized antiques are the charm bracelet that belonged to my grandmother and a gold cross that belonged to my nanny (dad's mother).

We have several large furniture pieces from the early 1800s. Recently sold a desk from the late 1700's in the 5 figure range. All family pieces. The ones we have left are the ones we are keeping. Couldn't keep them all, so we sold some at auction.

I have several pieces but my "treasure" is my dining room set. The table is a round, split-pedestal, claw foot table with 6 leaves that extend the table to seat 20. It is over 100 years old, not sure of the exact date. It was a family 'heirloom' of some friends of my mom's. They were downsizing and no one wanted the table. We bought the table, 6 chairs and a sideboard for $250. I saw a table that was very similar, just the table, on an antiques website that was going for $10,000. I need to have it appraised but we do have it insured for more then the $10,000.

I have some antique china, serving dishes, etc. that came from various great-grandparents, etc. I have a few smaller pieces of furniture--coffee table, some end tables, a chest.
