I own a similar product called XShot.. http://www.xshotpix.com/

I'm pretty sure the QuikPod came first, but I think the XShot is better because it is made of metal rather than plastic, is quite a bit longer fully extended, and the mounting screw on it is very quick.

My DSLR (Olympus E-510) is above the max weight spec of the XShot, but it works just fine... though it is pretty light as far as DSLRs go and I'm not sure it would support much more.

I would think you'd have to have good wrist strength to use that on an average DSLR... I don't think my old wrists would like it...LOL
