Guys, do you open the door for your date, spouse, SO?

Ladies, do you like having doors opened for you?I

I appreciate it and I've taught my two son's to always offer.
I tell them :
"You don't have to hold open the door because it's a lady - do it because you're a gentleman"

Momma didn't raise a fool

ALways open a door for a lady, child or elderly

I like it. And I will hold open a door for men, rather than just letting it slam in their face.

I have raised my sons to open the doors but not to have a problem if the women does it first!:D

DH always opens the doors for me when we are entering/exiting a building. Before we had kids, he would always open the car door for me too. Now, we have moved on from that just making sure the kids get into the car. One of these days, when the kids are older, I hope to go back to that little ritual.

I will always hold a door for someone coming in/out, especially elderly or handicapped people. I have taught the kids to do the same.

Sometimes when I'm out with the daycare kids, one of them will be holding the door for the rest of us and low and behold, someone just can't wait and rush past us. It's bad enough they do this, but it irks me when they don't acknowledge the little person standing their, smiling up, so proud to be holding the door. :(

I open my own doors, but if a man opens it or holds it for me than I will :D and say thank you.

I don't mind not having a door opened for me, but I do mind not having the door HELD if I'm a few steps behind a person going through the doorway  ....I always check to see if someone is right behind me and HOLD the door, I don't let it slam in their face... that's just plain rude

I think it is a really great thing to teach your boys to open doors for ladies, two4ruff. I am going to do the same with mine. Ladies, disabled, elderly, kids, and people with packages...

I appreciate anyone opening or holding a door for me, and I ALWAYS thank them. If I have the opportunity to hold a door open for someone who needs it, I do. And I appreciate a "Thank you" when I do, too. One thing that really irks me is if I hold a door open for someone who walks through it without even touching it like that was what I was there for-no thanks, nothing. I just shake my head at people like that..

I also put a little curse on them...:smooth:

I always appreciate having a door held open for me, or at least not let go so that it slams in my face if I'm a couple steps behind a person going in/out. And, in turn, I hold the door for someone coming behind me, and I will open it and let an elderly person go ahead of me.

What I truly hate is holding a door open for someone, stepping back so they can go through, and they don't even acknowledge or say thank you. Kinda makes me want to take it back and let them hold their own friggin' door!!

Doors opened for me please :p

I have yet to convince hubby to come around to the car and open the car door for me to get out though:laughing:

I totally agree... I'll hold a door open for pretty much anyone who comes behind me. There are a few (rare few) gentlemen at work who will not let me hold it for them though, they let me go through first always :)

Yes, I open car doors and entry doors for all women, whether I know them or not. It's just common courtesy.

So, if a man and a woman are walking down the street on the sidewalk with the roadway on their right and there are dark alleys on their left, which side should the man walk on?

My husband still opens doors and car doors for me, and I think it is sweet :). He also always lets women sit down on the buses at WDW if he has a seat and they don't.

I like the doors opened for me. Although I am also waiting for the kids to get older so we can go back to the old days...LOL
We kind of just shuffle the kids in the car also.;)

My DH opens doors for me with the exception of car doors. When we were dating he did, but that slowly waned away. When we have the occassional date night without the girls, he opens the car door for me. But when the kids are around, we are just trying to hurry up and get them both in and buckled up.

I think he should walk behind her, that way if anything happens he has both sides covered. :) I hold doors for everyone. Have since I was a kid. Not sure if this is done in any other areas but down here in the south, at least my part, when someone holds a door open for you, they then in turn hold the same door for you, so you squeeze past them and, like me, get flustered because they broke the rythm instead of just going through the door like i wanted.

Oh, don't get me started on this. We were at IHOP on mother's day and were waiting on a bench that was right behind the door. Everytime people would walk in or out, my son (3yo) would open the door and hold it for them. This kept him very busy while we waited for about 20 minutes. Not ONE person thanked or even acknowleged him. I let him know how nice and helpful I thought he was though.

Another time I was leaving a store with my son and I was about 6-7 months pregnant (yes it was obvious). Another woman with a smaller child than mine was walking up to the door to go in. I held the door for her since I was already there. Well, she says "thank you" and then all of a sudden this 20-something boy/man/kid (whatever) comes rushing up behind her and through the door that I was holding. What kind of a man lets a pregnant woman with a toddler hold the door for him, much less races to get there before I close it!!! Unbelievable.

of course I open doors, I like treating a lady like a lady
