Do you need cash?

Just a couple questions:

1. What form of payment do they accept in DL and DTD for counter service and restaurants? Do you need cash for everything?

2. Do you need a reservation for Cafe Orleans??? Is it impossible to eat there without one? Also, is making a reservation in DL just like any other normal restaurant?

i don't think you NEED reservations for cafe orleans.

you can pay for everything at restaurants with a credit or debit card. you might need cash for things like the popcorn cart or the ice cream carts, but i don't think so. there are also atm's around the parks in case you decide you want cash for something.

I have also heard of various ones getting a Disney gift card and just using that instead of carrying cash. I belive that you can just keep adding money onto it when it gets low.

There are outdoor vending carts that can't accept cards, and there are some outdoor vending carts that can take debit/credit cards but cannot take giftcards.

For those you need cash or Disney Dollars (which are the same as cash so if you're carrying cash just carry cash).

We budget with Disney GiftCards...I buy them at the parks (I would buy them at a Disney Store but it's well over an hour north to get there and not enough around to make it interesting for me) and it's much better for me to have the one big charge (or my budgeted amount divided by the number of days we're there, if I decided to buy a card each day) than to deal with umpteen little purchases.

But there are places that can't accept gift cards,and you can check that out if interested on disneygiftcard.com. One place is interesting...The Lego Store can accept Disney Dollars (along with cash and debit/credit cards), but can't accept Disney Gift Cards.



For Cafe Orleans, you could probably get a walk-up table, but if you know when you want to go, might as well call Disney Dining and get a Priority Seating arranged!

We spent very little cash there. We prefer to use a credit card everywhere possible because 1) we get money back through our card and 2) there won't be extra money left on a gift card at the end of the trip.

I allways make a PS for Cafe Orleans , why wait for a table when u have better things to do. I request outside so we can people watch.

I had absolutely no cash in my billfold today and we did just fine. You just have to go into the counter service places, bakery, ice cream shop, or one of the stores to get drinks or snacks.

I agree about Cafe Orleans. We will actually call them while we are in the park - 714-781-DINE. Beats walking up to the podium and waiting or finding out they closed the standby list.
