Do you need a resort ID to go boating?

I've gotten mixed information regarding whether someone can rent a boat at a resort without actually staying at that resort. Does anyone know?

You need to Call (407) WDW-PLAY. They could give you the accurate info. If it is for a fishing expedition you can use either a credit card or resort id.

If you are over 18 must provide ID with birth date.

From my understanding, you don't have to be staying at the resort to use the water craft.

If you're staying at the resort, the benefit is being able to charge it to your room.

All the marinas are run by Sammy Duvall Watersports, contracted through Disney, so they don't care if you're staying there or not.

Confirm to make sure, but that's what I was told by one of the marina attendants on my last stay.
