Do You Lysol Spray Your Stateroom?

I use Clorox Wipes just the 1st time our family enters our stateroom. I use the wipes on all the surfaces as mentioned before. Although the goal is to eliminate germs from viruses, I also am grossed out by feces left on the remotes etc. I think that is mostly what you would find on many of the surfaces just because so many people don't wash their hands after using the bathroom.

This. exactly.

But what about the carpets and curtains and pillows and comforters and the airborne particles they may have. They are not replaced on every cruise?

When you think about it, 1000 crew on the Magic class and 1450 crew on the Dream class don't have their cabins disinfected every cruise and they just get sick from the Guests for the most part.

Other Guest's touching things you touch, CM's touch and they touch outside your Stateroom is what makes people sick.

Just a thought.

If I thought about it, I would never cruise again ;)

I don't lick all that stuff or touch it then put my fingers in my mouth. So no. I just wash my hands after the restroom and before eating just like at home, land hotels and restaurants.

I agree!! We've been on 3 cruises getting ready to go on our 4th and never gotten sick and never brought the wipes. Just wash our hands! We are too busy having FUN!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let me remind you to not attack another's viewpoint. I do not wipe down anything in my room, but others can if they choose. It is not my responsibility (or yours) to remind them of other germ carriers.

Please continue your discussion with respect.

My answer to the question - no I don't wipe anything down, but I am a handwasher. I have been on 12 cruises and not gotten sick on one - often during flu season.

Hope the attacking post was removed before as I didn't see it?

Thank you all for the responses. I think there are many who choose both sides and the arguments for each are good, so its always much appreciated to get a wide range of opinions.

Glad you appreciate what everyone has to say about it, it you should do what you are comfortable doing.
As has been said infinitum, DCL don't want you sick and isolated in your Stateroom, they wan't you out playing bingo, buying drinks, spa services, photo's and having a good time! :lmao:

Anyone stuck in a Stateroom isn't spending that cash they want! lol!
They will do whatever is in their power to keep everyone, Crew and Guest's onboard as healthy as they can within reason. Bad news travels fast and if a ship is heard of as being a sick ship would be detrimental for future bookings and future business.

Seems I am a little late adding to this thread but my family (most of them have been on 5 Disney Cruises) have never brought wipes or Lysol... we just wash our hands after we the restrooms and before dinner and we always use the bar soap I see nothing wrong with it. The only reason 2 of us got sick 1. Motion Sickness... really bad weather 2. I ate a bad hot dog on one of the islands. Maybe we are lucky but hey I need the extra room in my suitcase for more presents! (for myself of course)

not a bad idea one in 6 cell phones has feces on it. im not making this up google it. who knows what the remote control and everything else in the stateroom has on it.

18 cruises and I never wipe anything off. I use the bar soap. I wash my hands when I use the potty, when I get back on the ship. Just like at home. The less exposure to germs, the more apt you are to be affected by them.

I hope that wasn't geared towards me as I certainly wasn't attacking. Just trying to understand the point of view of those who do try and sanitize everything. My question was asked not to a specific person and I haven't gone back and forth with anyone who answered.

I CERTAINLY understand the parents of little ones doing it because of the sticky messes they create, and appreciate those efforts! I've been in places after a little one and I WISH those parents had been as considerate as some of the parents here who are just trying to clean up after their kids!

I have been on 15 cruises, and unfortunately on one of those cruises, I contracted the noro-virus. It was on a Carnival ship a few years ago. I was quarantined for 24 hours. It's something I'd prefer never to experience again! And I wouldn't wish it on anyone else. It's a horrible sick. But I must say Carnival handled it very well.

Anyway, I have always been pretty careful about washing my hands, but now I'm super careful. I bring wipes and wash my hands and use sanitizer after touching ANYTHING on the ship. I don't touch handrails if I can help it, and when I do, I make sure I wash my hands before I touch my face.

Obviously, it didn't deter me from going on more cruises. You just have to be careful.

Do they sell lysol in the ship shops or at Disney resort shops? Can't for the life of me remember!

Funny you bring this up. I do launder my money. Just Kidding ...

I would be much less concerned with germs if my kids kept their fingers out of their mouths. I hope it's just a several year phase they will concur prior to sail. However, I have a suspicion, even inclusive my efforts, they will unfortunately still be hungry for fingers when we sail, even with the abundance of food available on board.

Love it!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
