We're moving and our current towels are starting to get strings so they need replacing -well, we'll keep them but they'll be for everyday and I want good ones for company and dress up. ya know?

They need to be large bath towels/bath sheets should be an option as both DH and DS are tall and athletic. They need to be absorbent because we'll actually use them to dry us, lol!
Fine looking and functional. Color is still in question although I think DS will want brown or dark blue because his new bathroom is pink and lilac so he'll need the balance. I'm talking pink tub and sink with lilac tiles so the color is not easily changed. Our bath will be black and white so I can splash a red in there or maybe a charcoal. Color choices will be made when I find the towels I want. I can get MIL to get us some for Christmas so I'm looking for ideas.
Thanks!!!

I LOVE my ones from Restoration Hardware. I have had mine for 4 years now, and they look as good as the day I bought them. They have been used every single day for those four years, too.

I like my towels (from JC Penney), but I absolutely LOVE my DS18's towels.

My mother got them for him for college! She thought it would be a good idea to monogram them so they wouldnt get stolen or mixed up with someone elses by accident!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I dont need to tell anyone his reaction!)

The are the biggest, fluffiest, softest towels Ive ever seen in my life. I told my mother I love them and asked where she got them. It was a set of 4...4 bath, 4 finger and 4 washclothes. She said the got them at Neiman Marcus for $300!!!!!

Ill stick with my JC Penney towels!

The Big Ones at Kohl's are great for a cheap towel, but I don't think that's what you're looking for. They are good to send off with a kid going to college and okay for everyday. We have some in our linen closet and DH hates when we get down to them, though.

Really nice towels are on my wish list, but I'm not sure when it will happen. Lands End has some that look really good but they're pricey. My favorite ones are some I got when Pillowtex (formerly Fieldcrest, formerly Cannon) closed, so you can't get them any more. They are big and thick and still wonderful after 5+ years.

Costco has some really nice towels right now. There are 5 or 6 colors (white, tan, blue, brown, and ??) of bath towels, hand towels/washcloths come in a set of 2 each. There are also giant bath sheets that are absolutely enormous. I bought the towels and they are still bigger than my current ones. Soft and fluffy, wash up great.

I got mine from Target (from there Target Home collection) and they are really nice and not a horrible price. I think for two complete sets of the bath towel, hand towel, and washcloth I paid maybe $20. They have some really beautiful colors and stay nice and fluffy after each use.

We have towels from Steinmart and JC Penny that I love. I can't remember the brand names but they are really nice. I can tell you to stay away from Pottery Barn towels, they look nice but are expensive and after a few washings the fabric has a really unpleasant smell to it, even when freshly washed and I know others that have had the same experience with them.

i bought my bath sheets at Homegoods. They do not carry them anymore and it makes me sad. They are pure Egyptian cotton, and never pulled a string or got the fuzzies like cheap Egyptian cotton gets. I paid $8/towel. They are so soft... incredibly soft, but actually absorb water instead of just moving it around like some "egyptian" cotton does, as well.

I suggest buying one (or using just one) and washing it. Then use it before washing/using the others. If it doesn't feel right on the first use, then send the rest back!

I have some I love from Bed Bath and Beyond.

I also got my new towels from Costco....so far love them.
I need to replace some more.....the rest of mine are at least 15 years old....still going well though.

TOWELS for GUESTS!?!?!   ;) :cool2:

I have a BUNCH of plain ol' tan "Big Ones" towels from Kohls for guests. But personally, DH and I use Apt. 9 towels from Kohls... they are REALLY soft and absorbant! :thumbsup2 They are pretty decorative, too!

I love our towels from Macy's Hotel Collection. We have them in white, dark brown and a cream color. They hold up very well and are nice and absorbent.

I have some I love from Bed Bath and Beyond.

Me too. I watch for them to go on sale at BB&B -- usually not the most popular colors, but I've gotten some of those big soft fluffy beach-towel sized ones for less than $10 for settling for colors I don't love. Who cares, they're great towels!

Other than that, I buy the Better Homes & Garden towels at Walmart. They're around $5. Smaller, but fluffy and absorbent. Those are my everyday towels.

Wow! Thanks guys, some really good leads here. I had looked at the Kohl's towels but they didn't have any sets of the same color at all and they seemed a tad thin. It's hard to tell about towels just like sheets until you use them. I like the idea of using one after washing and returning the rest if I don't like it. I might end up with a few undesirables but that's the breaks. I think I'll investigate Bed Bath and Beyond as well as Restoration Hardware. Does Charcoal neutralize pink and lilac better than brown? DS is really NOT happy about his pink and lilac bathroom!!! Maybe I can find some dinosaur stickers, lol!

The BEST towels we ever got were from Land's End for a wedding present that we STILL use now.

I also like the nicer ones from Shopko if you have one of those near you. Our everyday towels come from there and they are thick and absorbent. Our "expensive" towels don't dry worth a darn. :lmao:

We got some really plush towels from Sam's club. I love them! (Don't remember the name brand.)

We have had towels from several different collections and hands down our favorite are Canon Towels. These are the only towels that even after years of use, that will still suck up the water from your skin instead of just smearing it around.

We have had towels that cost us a lot more than we would have ever dreamed of paying and the cheap on a budget towels. Two weeks ago, we went and dropped $100.00 on getting a slew of new towels - the kids are going thru towels faster then I can keep up with. It took us a while to find Canon, but we finally did.

We bought some big, thick towels recently. I thought that they were going to be awesome.

I hate them. They are a nuisance.
