I love this brand of coffee but it is only served in restaurants. Does anyone know of a similar tasting coffee?

...S&D comes to you right from NC? They are located in Concord, NC (about 35 miles from me). It is heavenly to drive by, roll down the window, and hope to get stuck at the red light at their facility. Can't say that I know of a similar tasting brand, though.

They have lots of restaurant contracts -- McDonald's, for one. Every once in a while I run into in a hotel room, too. It's an old family-owned business. It is now run by the sons of the "D" original owner. Nice people -- they go to my church and donate to the nonprofit I work for.

I used to drive by S & D every single day on the way to work and again on the way home. Now, I only go by there a couple times a week. If you're ever in Concord, they have a nice little store in the back of the plant with a pot of free coffee brewing.

S & D used to contract out the roasting for their flavored coffees. A few years back I was a volunteer taste tester when they were perfecting the recipes/methods for doing it on site. I got a free 1/2 pound of coffee, which I evaluated for them. I think I did it three times.

mmmmmmm....S&D coffee. Loved that stuff! I used to work right across the street from the plant. It smelled great! I'll have to check the link to buy it online.
Tar heel, where in Concord are you? That's where I was living until I moved back to New Hampshire, Concord New Hampshire! Talk about confusing the Post Ofice! LOL

Thanks everyone! Looking online there are many flavors to choose from. I wonder which one is the one that most upscale restaurants serve. Everytime we ask our waiter what coffee they serve it is always S & D. It is so smooth. I am thrilled that I can now order it. Yeah!:Pinkbounc

I knew someone here on the DIS would know the answer.

phoresnuff -- I live in one of the many communities off Weddington Road. Did you work at Ben Mynatt?

pirate -- A lot of the restaurants have their own blend, so you wouldn't be able to buy it. Alan Davis, the head of the company, told me his favorite was the Kenya AA.

I'm not sure how much you'll have to pay for shipping, but the prices on those specials are really good.

Hi Tarheel. I worked at the Allen Tate Company selling real estate. I am very familiar with the Weddington Rd. developments. Is it the one with the big brick houses? ;-)
I lived up by the mall on the Concord/Kannapolis line. Sure do miss it there!
