My step-grandson watches both of these shows, too. I'd never heard of them before until he and his parents moved in with us last year. I haven't seen Paw Patrol (although we have a lot of PP merchandise, books, etc around here) but we watch Bluey together almost every day!
PG is the new G. Anything with even a hint of action in it will be PG these days. G is almost never even used anymore and is cosnidered box-office poison. Notice nearly all Disney animated films used bo be rated G and are now PG. For almost anything live action, PG-13 is nearly always standard now too as PG is seen as detrimental to broad appeal.
I actually enjoy watching both of those shows with my grandson.
I watched Paw Patrol with granddaughter when she was younger too. She never watched Bluey.
My kids were hugely into Paw Patrol for a while but the love is starting to fade as they’re approaching 7 and 4. We have an entire bookshelf plus some floor space given to Paw Patrol toys, and I’ll say that those toys have gotten more play than most things, so no complaints here. They looked through the Target Toy magazine yesterday and asked for a Paw Patrol aircraft carrier. I told them no way, we’re not buying yet another giant Paw Patrol toy. (I would probably feel differently if they were as into it as they used to be.) However, the youngest is currently only 6 months so I’m sure we will have yet another Paw Patrol phase in our house before those toys are done.
None of us could ever get into Bluey despite giving it a chance.
I've never watched Bluey but DD is a fan of Paw Patrol, though it isn't watched much. More that she likes the characters (Chase in particular) I guess.

Oh, I totally get that PG is the new G. However, if I was a parent, I would expect a movie aimed at kids that young to be G. Even my mom was confused by it when I pointed it out.
I really dislike Paw Patrol for several reasons. Of course, my mother insists on putting it on whenever she watches my son and he knows the characters through osmosis with his classmates. But I dislike most shows that aren’t on Disney Junior, mostly because I hate incessant commercials. Disney Junior limits commercials to in between shows, and they don’t use typical commercials, but rather ones that are filmed specifically for the network and have some sort of “message.” (Some of them are a HUGE stretch, but I appreciate the effort.)
