Do you like ground floor rooms? (Beach Club)

Formulating Touring Plans request. Nothing is guaranteed, but shooting for the moon for a view in the category booked at Beach Club (garden).

Was going to request a balcony room, but saw quite a few ground floor garden view rooms that would have patios.
Always stay on higher floors, so this would be new.

Ground floor - like or dislike?

I generally go for the highest floor to avoid noise from above, especially at OKW. We have had problems with loud upstairs neighbors before (dragging furniture for a long time - who does that?). Can't speak to BC though.

Don't mind a high floor as long as there is an elevator. I have COPD and don't like climbing stairs.

Thanks. Thinking a patio would be fun, just unsure if we'd like the ground floor.

Probably will end up with the Juliet balcony staring at a tree for our garden view anyways, which is fine too.

I would hesitate to make that request at BC. Many of the ground floor rooms are along the path that many guests take to EP (especially the BCV guests) - you may have a lot of foot traffic and would certainly want to remember to keep your shades shut at night and when dressing.

We are not ground floor people. We stayed in one once at the Poly Club Level and asked to be moved because everyone sort of stares into your room as they walk past and there were kids playing on the lawn right outside our patio doors etc. quite often so we had to keep the curtains closed more than usual. We prefer highest floor possible both for views and for privacy. The only place we don't mind them is at SSR. The ground floor rooms in College Park are actually private little patios and the landscaping makes it so that no one really ventures past your window at all. So in that case we don't mind ground floor rooms.

Honestly, there are pros and cons IMO. Ground Floor Pros: Convenient, no waiting for elevators, patios usually have more space than balconies. Cons: Can be noisy (both from people above you and from people outside), less privacy, views from higher floors are usually better. It's really about which of these are bigger priorities for you.

We stayed on a ground floor room at both BC and YC. BC was a deluxe room right near the quiet pool and YC was a waterview room directly facing the marina.

They were great. Easy access, no waiting for elevators!

Just had our 1st ever ground floor BLT Studio. We loved it. DW even joined me for coffee on the patio which she rarely did with a balcony. The view of the CR and Marina was awesome. We are now of the n=mind set that what ever room we get, we will make the most of what it has to offer. We've had higher lever rooms with lousy views, so every trip is a surprise.

No, I would prefer at least second floor for the privacy. If I was on the ground floor, I'd feel the need to keep my curtains closed at all times when I'm in the room. I've made awkward eye contact with people through patio doors far too often...

I love to get up WAY early and sit outside on a 2nd floor or higher balcony with my coffee in the pre-dawn. The thought of sitting on a ground floor patio with the chance of a snake keeping company would NEVER be my choice.

I was going to say this.

I always avoided ground floor rooms because (right or wrong) I feel that bugs and lizards and snakes can get into those rooms easier than higher floors…
We did have some ducks almost walk right into our ground-floor room at Poly once. Luckily I was sitting nearby and jumped up and closed the door.

I loved ground floor at Poly, especially when we had younger kids and they could play out there while we were getting ready or working or whatever. Now I prefer a higher floor as it somehow feels more removed from the chaos. Except at OKW where it is just peaceful as can be.

We have previously had a first floor Garden View room at Beach Club booked, upon arrival we were ground level with the volley ball court. Needless to say we requested another room, but it took quite a while to be placed in another room.

No thank you!! I need the highest floor, furthest away from the elevators! I must admit the last time we stayed at Wilderness Lodge, we were on the ground floor and didn't hear a thing. Not sure about Beach.

You can always ask for another room, but I must agree. Waiting for another room will be long!! Also, they may not be able to accommodate the move if it's crowded.

We were in a 1st floor unit at OKW on our first stay as members in 1992. It was very nice and convenient - the resort was not even fully completed at that point. However one evening there was a nasty flooding rain storm and later we noticed there were dozens (probably not that many, but it sure sounded that way!). of croaking frogs all over the porch! In retrospect it was funny, but it was sure loud! We tend to avoid first-floor units now.

Love, love, love ground floor rooms!
No downside for us.

Stayed ground floor at BC a couple of doors down from the Marketplace. So convenient. Perfection!
