Do you like going solo?!?

Personally, I do love going alone but it totally depends on your temperament that what you like, roaming around alone or with family/friends.

Never gone to disney alone, so I understand your apprehension but as far as what other people think... you will (most likely) never see them again so who care what they think!

:thumbsup2

I think you'll be fine. I just returned from a week-long trip with my wife, her parents, and our daughter. One night, they went shopping at IKEA and I went to EPCOT solo. It was awesome and I never felt awkward at all. I had a blast and decided to eat at the Morocco quick-service eatery, which I'd never done. I took breaks and then walked really fast whenever I wanted. It was a different experience and not something I'd want to do for a whole week, but I think it would be great for a few days.

My wife just gave me the go-ahead to start planning my first-ever solo trip for late August or early September. I can't wait! It will just be a few days, but I plan to cram in a serious amount of touring. I think you'll have a blast! I'll likely avoid most of the kids' rides since we just spent a lot of time on them with our daughter, but it's cool either way.

I been 8 times since 2008 solo I started when I was 25 and I love it.

You can schedule your time for yourself. I like to sleep in the morning and go late in the parks so. I do the rides that I want to do and single rider are great for that too. I wish to have more of them lol. In the evening I like to go take a drink and eat at the rainforest or other place and even go watch a movie at the AMC.

I have already had 14 annual solo vacations - most of them for 6 or 7 nights.
I absolutely love going solo, and I also love the room all to myself.
I never did get lonely, and no one stared at me over dinner.

Some things I adjust while on on solo vacation. I usually request a higher floor at the resort. It just makes me feel safer than being on the ground floor.

As soon as I arrive at a restaurant, I use the bathroom before even being seated at my table. This way - they don't think a person has actually left if you use the bathroom in the middle of a meal.

I don't have any children, but I want my cell phone on me to sometimes call my Mother, and sometimes call my Husband. I've even called them both right from the parks. This way I don't feel lonely for those I left at home.

Also - when dining, I make sure to have a small notebook with me, and also a park map - it keeps me busy just in case I feel any akwardness dining alone.

This will be my first full solo trip in October. My sister and I split a trip two years ago. She went first, we met up for three days and then she left and I had two days alone. Unfortunately, it rained almost the whole time I was there alone so I was often a bit wet and it is cold in the restaurants when you are wet! I liked it though and now am going back for a week solo.

Your tips are handy! Thanks,

:wave2: Hi Claudia! I thought 14 was a lot until I counted-that's exactly what I have too. I agree with what yousaid, especially about the higher floor request. Only once has the front desk given me a little hard time, trying to assure me I'd be perfectly safe on the first floor. But I guess it's a quirk-glad to know I'm not alone on that.

I just had my first solo trip this past November for three days - and I :lovestruc it!!
I was never lonely. I was able to schedule my day exactly how I wanted it. I watched some shows that I'd never seen before and I took much more time to relax and watch the street performers.
I took breaks when I wanted, ate when I wanted and woke up and went to bed when I wanted.
I had a couple of dining reservations and sat at a table by myself. I swear Disney tells its wait staff to pay special attention to single diners as everyone was friendly and stopped to speak with me. I also got talking to people at other tables especially at Chefs de France seeing as the tables are so close together. As really sweet 6 year old became my new best friend -LOL!
I was really surprised to see so many other single people walking around. You never really notice when you are there with a group of people, but when you are alone you notice all the others around you.
I also spoke to way more CM's then I've ever spoken to before.
It was honestly one of my top Disney trips :goodvibes

I love it!!!! Though around the mushey stuff such as storybook character couples you do feel a bit lonely......Oooooh, a Mickey Bar!!! :lmao:

i enjoy going solo, i'll be making solo trip #9 in a few more weeks and can't wait. its like everyone else has said and knows, you get to do what you want when you want cause your the boss, you get to make the decisions as to what you do and theres no one saying " aww lets do something else, i don't like that ". Solo the Only way to go.

After being an advocate of Solo Disney travel for many years now...the time has come to clarify my stance.

Solo travel is great as long as it is by choice. If you have no other option but solo travel, then it can be downright lonely. Fun and lonely do not seem like compatible situations, but surprisingly, it is possible. If you have been on many Solo trips because you had no one to go with...it gets to be a bit of a downer.

And now back to our usual Disney like joy. Sorry, I just felt the need to express that thought.

I have visited the parks solo and this is what I learned:

It is great to be able to go/do whatever you want. I went to three parks in one day-just because I felt like it.

I can look at the flowers and exhibits at the Flower and Garden Festival-as long as I want. And also take all the pictures I want. :flower3:

I only ate counter service but I think table service would be fine as long as I had something to do while waiting for my food.

The only think I did not like about going solo was the rides. I really missed not having someone with me on the rides and on line for the rides.
