Do you like fruitcake?

Claxton only, and regular not dark. I will try some other homemade fruitcakes, if someone I know made it, I just probably won't love it. But forget it if it has booze in it. My realtor gave me one once that, when I opened it, I swear was a fire hazard. If anyone had been smoking in the vicinity, they would have exploded. And it stank to high heaven. I had to toss it.

I don't mind it. I will sometimes eat a small slice, if someone brings it to a party. Just enough to fill that want. DW hates fruits and veggies, so we never have it at the house.

Aldi has stollen which we bought last year. It is heavy and best when warmed a bit, though it isn't something I am crazy about. Someone gifted me a fresh loaf of stollen from a fancy bakery. I didn't care for it and actually found Aldi's better. We did not buy it this year.

I’m not crazy fruitbread. My mom makes a candy cane shape out of a sweat dough that she puts canndied fruit and nuts in. I don’t mind that.

I will eat it but don't love it. My mother made a good one which I did eat but if she never made it again, it would have been fine.

I cannot remember the last time I had that. I know it seems to be a joke, but from what I remember, it was actually pretty darn good.

I ate it as a kid when visiting the homes of various relatives with my family. Then there was a long gap of maybe 50 years without a nibble. A few years ago someone brought a fruitcake to an office party and I decided to try it again.

I took a bite or two then discreetly disposed of the rest of the slice. :crazy2:

I just bought some stollen at Aldi tonight!

My mother makes a homemade one every thanksgiving. It is fantastic and very appreciated. I do not like store bought ones.

The HEAVIER the BETTER. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I never liked them growing up. My mom made them every Christmas but I did not like them at all.
But....somehow last year I bought one of those little ones shaped like a brick & it was delicious. Was happy to find one again this year (4.99 at Kroger). I was the only one eating it but gone in just a few days. Both of the ones I had tasted very fresh & moist. Not hard at all.

I’ve only had Collin Street Bakery's from Hillsboro, TX and I’ve always liked it.

if there are unwanted fruitcakes around, my mother would love to take them off your hands.
She loves them. From the best bakeries to the small.

Fruitcake seems much less common in my circles now. They were practically everywhere years ago, carried in many stores and catalogs, and not an unusual gift or offering in homes.

There are many different kinds, and some I liked and some I didn’t care for. There was a macadamia nut one I had that I recall really enjoying. But overall I haven’t had any in a really long time and now couldn’t spot a “good one” if my life depended on it!
