Do you leave your front porch light on all night?

I have noticed that several of the houses on my street seem to leave the front porch light on all night. We never do unless we forget to turn it off. We have motion lights at the corners of the house so if anyone walks up those lights click on automatically.

Just curious - why would you want your front porch light on all night?

We all leave ours on. It's a security thing. First thing I do when I get up in the morning is turn it off.

We have motion lights on the front porch and on the ones by the garage.

I would think they leave it on for security...maybe they don't have motion-activated lights like you have. :confused3

No it is a waste of electricity, we have a solar light on the front door and it is motion activated. We also have very good locks on the doors and windows!

We have dusk to dawn sensors on the lights by our front door, back door, garage and motion floods in the back. A well lit house is a safer house.

We leave ours on. It keeps the front entrance illuminated. I've an intruder is trying to gain access through the front door (such as busting out my sidelight), he or she will not have the advantage of a "cover of darkness" to help.

Took the words right out of my mouth!

This. And if I hear a noise outside (usually a skunk or raccoon) I can see it.
We do have motion sensor lights on the garage, but we leave the front door light on all night.

We have ours on a timer and it stays on from dusk to dawn. It's for security.

Ditto! :thumbsup2

This.

We live in a very rural area with lots of critters. We tried motion but with our neighbors doing the same it looked like a laser light show at night:rotfl2:

So we just went to a timer.

I keep ours turned off at night, but only because I sleep in the front bedroom and the light interrupts my sleep if I leave the porch light on.

Our lights have a voltaic sensor. When the sun goes down, they turn on, when the sun comes up, they turn off.

we don't leave ours on unless we're not coming home until after dark. I like them off so I can see. I can see better with our light off and just by the street light.

Because we don't have motion lights (do not look nice with our 100 year old home), so the porch light and the post light stay on.

You can't even tell ours are motion lights. In fact, you can either use the "motion" function or just have them function as regular lights.

We do leave our porch light on all night long. My 2 oldest sons are 23 and 21 and they do come home at late hours.

we leave ours on all night. We also have motion lights on the garage. We live off of a very busy street, gotta keep an eye out!
