Do you leave drinks in your strollers while on rides?

Hi. A question for stroller users: do you leave your drinks and water bottles in your stroller while you are on rides or attractions?

I have come up with a way to clip the bottles to my umbrella strollers, so the kids can drink freely while in thier strollers. However, I am uneasy about leaving thier drinks unattended while the stroller is parked. I am afraid someone may tamper with their drinks. They will be two and a half on our trip, so I dont want them to carry them, and the strollers don't have a basket on the bottom where I could hide the drinks. Should I unclip the drinks every time I stop and put them in my bag to carry them with me ?

What do you do?

Also, while I'm on the topic, how do you keep your 2.5 year olds hydrated?

Thanks!

We leave everything in our stroller and never a problem! Drinks, popcorn, princess dresses, stuff we've bought. The only thing we take is our bag with our money and camera. :thumbsup2

I leave everything but wallet or purse and camera. As for keeping my Dd hydrated....Propel water or Nestle Purelife flavored water. It's the only water she will drink. I spritz her with the mister occaisionally and I have 2 mini clip foam bladed fans that I clip to the stroller shade and direct on her.

I've found that both of my children (ages 5 and 2) drink a LOT more water when a straw is involved, especially a crazy straw. My son (the 2 year old) had been dehydrated since it turned warm here this year, but as soon as I pulled out some crazy straws, his diaper has needed changing much more frequently!!!

I plan on bringing several crazy straws with us to Disney.

If they are covered you should be fine. While I would worry about a teen at a party I don't see much reason to worry about a 2yo sippie cup.

When my dds were young we would park the stroller in one and do several rides at a time to avoid the in and out of the stroller syndrome. So if I parked our stroller in say Fantasyland we would hit 5-6 rides before reclaiming it. In that case I would probably but the drinks back into an cooler with an ice pack, more to keep them cold than anything else though.

ITA that keeping the drinks handy is the best way to keep them hydrated! My dds are now 9 and 11 and they both wear a water bottle strap with a small water and a sport top. They get to pick a new strap from the cart each trip and that works wonders.

If you get a chance to pick up a stroller fan and or a mister type sprayer fan from Wallmart they are a lifesaver, $5.00 or less at wallmart $15.00 or more at the parks.

We have always left everything in the stroller, except for money. There are plenty of things to worry about, like a child wandering off and getting lost, but I don't worry about drink tampering or theft. However, if you do, you should take everything with you or dispose of the old drink and replace it. We replace drinks a lot in Disney because it doesn't take long for water to taste stale or even warm. We don't save juice.

Very OT, my apologies especially to the OP.

I debated on posting or not but Please do some research on these products before serving them to kids, especially toddler and teen girls. My dd's are figure skaters and in recent years young girls and teen skaters have taken to drinking these drinks instead of water so its of interest to us. Studies are now finding this isn't ok!

Read on only if your interested in what I know so far. If you choose not to read on please at least do a few searches to make an informed decision before serving fruit flavored water or gatorade drinks to kids.

Sports drinks like gatorade, powerade and the propel series contain huge amounts of sodium - its great for athletes as they sweat sodium while in intense workouts and competitions. IMHO not necessary for every day life and really not ok for young kids. They were really never meant to be a beverage but they have become a mainstream drink and the soda companies have picked up on that. If you are not ok with giving your 2yo soda you may want to think twice about gatorade, propel and the fruit flavor waters, etc.

In addition to the huge amounts of sodium, they also have phosporates and aspertene or splenda. This is an issue for toddlers and teens especially girls as the phosporates and artifical sweetners have been found to leach the calcuim from the bones. Even Fruit 2 0's and the Dansanti lemon water have the aspertane or splenda. So in short its not a chance I am going to take with myself or my dd's. If some day they jog or start doing the type of workouts that require a sports drink I will serve it. Otherwise its traditional drinks like milk, juice and water for my dd's. FWIW you can squeeze a lemon into a water bottle and it tastes better than the fruit water. My dd's love to order lemon water and its easy to bring a sliced lemon in a baggie in the cooler.

i always kept mine int he basket under the stroller with no probs!!

Hi, my kids are well past stroller age, but I know that we always like to have our water with us while we're waiting in line for the rides (especially if it's a hot day). If you know that you won't need the drinks while you're in line, I'd probably be okay with leaving them in the stroller if they were not visible.

I used "drink deputies" to keep their sippies hooked to the strollers when we were in WDW. However, I pulled the sippies off and tucked them into side pockets on my backpack bag whenever we went into attractions. I always took the backpack with me. I just wouldn't want to chance some crazy deciding to put something in my kid's drink. Maybe I'm a little paranoid, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. :confused3 It wasn't that difficult to just pull the sippies off & slip them in the bag as I was unbuckling them from the strollers.

BTW---I used those disposable sippy cups so I could toss them instead of having to wash sippy cups all week long. Mine weren't quite getting the whole concept of sucking from the straw before we left for our trip, so we were stuck with sippy cups. Next time, I'll be able to bring straws. :goodvibes
