that aren't funny just to be polite?
:happytv:
I'm not much of a laugher. Yesterday the pastor told a couple stories that lots of people just thought were hilarious. I didn't so I just sat there.

When I met my husband, I used to laugh at all of his attempts at humor. He came to believe he was a really funny guy. Now we're at a point in our relationship where I don't laugh anymore when he says something that isn't funny. The things I laugh at now are things he doesn't intend to be funny, which is humorous in itself. Well, at least to me. :lmao:

No I don't. I'm just not socially aware enough. I'm that person who always says "I don't get it." Then gets groans and a long drawn out explaination, so that even if it was once funny, it no longer is.

:lmao: There was a thread like this the other day.

Sadly, yes.

I have to admit I do......just to be polite.

Yes, I have to admit I'm the goofy person who always laughs BEFORE the punch line.

Not because I figure out the punchline before everybody else, but because I tend to start laughing whenever I see somebody else laugh. It can be a little embarrassing because I've had people tell me, "OK, here's the punchline, NOW you can laugh." Well, geesh, if you're giggling at your own joke before the punchline, I can't help but giggle too.:flower1:

I do, but out of feeling uncomfortable more than anything. It's one of my weird quirks, but I am creeped out by corny people.

I did a real uncomfortable get-me-outta-here kinda giggle at Target when this hillbilly of a man made a very inappropriate comment to me about gay men. I wasn't even talking to him and he decided to jump into our conversation about this gorgeous pink suitcase that I was eyeballing. My husband had to walk away because he was fuming and about ready to deck the guy. I just stood there adoring the suitcase.

It depends. If it is a comment that I find offensive, for whatever reason, I won't laugh. I may even give them the hairy eyeball and ask them why they think it's so funny.

If it's a good-natured joke that I understand, and don't happen to think is funny, I will laugh to be polite. Like the ten thousand "jokes" my sister in law likes to forward to me.

If I don't get the joke, I don't laugh - I don't think I am a good enough actress to hide my confusion and fake laugh.
