I am a collector of all things Disney. I have a few of the WDCC pieces as well as watchs and other pieces. Do most of you keep the boxes the pieces came in or discard them. I have a closet full of boxes. I would like to use the closet for something else. What do most of you folks do. I realize the piece is more valuable in the original box. How do you store the box. I was thinking of getting a couple of the rubbermaid storage containers and storing them in the basement. Any advise or recommendations would be appreciated.Thank You!! :D :D

My guess is most people keep the original box, even if the piece isn't stored in it. That way they have everything intact for collectibility purposes.

If you're talking about cardboard boxes, are they flattened? That's what my wife does with her Hallmark ornament boxes.

If you're talking about the hard "jewelry box" types, the best thing may be to store them in Rubbermaid containers in the attic or basement.

I keep most of them. I have some that came in non descript boxes so I toss them. I understand your frustration with a house full of boxes! I have mine under the basement stairs! But I think your idea of storing in a rubbermaid type container is great. If you can flatten them do it as well.

I wonder sometimes I save the boxes. If it is a Disney collectable I don't plan on selling it, so why do I care about the box? But I save them anyway! :p

I save all of mine, in rubbermaid bins in the basement. Most of them have styrofoam, so I don't flatten them. I'm not planning to sell my collection now but somewhere down the road if I needed to....or my family needed to...the items have a more "collectible value" in the original box and more with the styrofoam or packing.

When we will be moving we will have the original boxes. These can then SAFELY be put into larger boxes for the move itself. It should make the items more secure for the long-distance move. Also, since we will be in a tem, porary location for a year, we will be able to identify what the items are without unwrapping them.

I too keep all of my boxes. They are in my garage, along with everything else under the sun, except my car!

I try to store the smaller boxes inside of the larger boxes. The rest I stack up or put in Rubbermaid containers. That way I'll have them if the day comes that I have to move and move my collection, or if, heaven forbid, I decide to get rid of my collections

just as a collector of all things including Disney-- KEEP THE BOXES... I know that most things collectable are more valuable with the box intact.. just my 2 cents!!!!
