When asked where you are from, do you live in a place where you must specify your city and state?
I saw a tv commercial where a guy says "I'm from Los Angeles, California".
Well no DUH! Los Angeles, California, really?
I think there are some places where just the name of the city will suffice--San Francisco, Detroit, and Philadelphia come to mind. I recently moved to Louisville and you'd be surprised how many people said "Kentucky?" Yeah...have you heard of it?
If you live in a place like Las Vegas, New Mexico, Portland, Oregon/Maine, or a city called Springfield,(Mass, Missouri, Illinois) it's understandable that you''d specify the state.
Must you specify your state when naming your home base?

.
I live in Salem, NH and work in Salem, MA, so I even have to specify which state when I'm at work and someone asks where I live.
However, I really live 15 miles out of Tampa, but when I say my town, even many natives don't know the town!
