Yes, we reminded our servers just as a precaution. We told them specifically which day to present the cake. It was a strawberry mousse type of cake and they give the birthday girl a button.

good info....our DS will be turning 4 on one of the nights of the cruise....we definitely want a cake for him....

We did not have to remind our servers. We let our travel agent know which nights we wanted to celebrate. We celebrated our Anniversary one night and a birthday another. The TA placed the information in our reservation and on those particular nights, the servers appeared singing with a special cake and and button. :flower:

It doesn't hurt to remind your servers....they have so much on their minds they could easily forget....just pull them aside first night and let them know which night you would like the "celebration". We had our Anniv. noted on our ressie and our wait staff forgot....we really did not mind as I did not need anymore cake at that point!!!

During our 7 night cruise, the first night the head server visited the table on the 1st night and asked about any of us celebrating special occasions. Well, everyone at our table had something to celebrate..so this head server made it a point to say ok..what night would you like your cakes, etc.

Well, none of us gave it another thought..until the last night of the cruise..lol. Not one person at the table got their cake. Not that we needed it..but, the head server took the time to write it all down and arrange dates so we didn't have a lot of cakes on one night..then she did nothing.

We did see plenty of other people getting cakes. So, you can tell them, but don't tell your daughter, just in case nothing happens. You just never know.

We told our TA about my DD's first birthday and our 10th anniversary when we booked. By the time we went on the cruise (last week), I had forgotten all about it! Our Server, Prudence, came up to me on the second night and told us to stick around b/c she had something special for DD. They did the whole b-day thing, DD had some strawberry mousse cake and got her button. On our second to last night, the head Server, Aleksandra, told us not to leave again and they did a whole anniversary thing for DH and me! After they reminded us of DD b-day, we really didn't expect anything for us too. It was really special!

BTW, the night they did DD's bday, there was only 1 other bday in the dining room and none the night before. The next night there were about 20 "special occasions" and more every night. Suddenly EVERYONE was celebrating something. :teeth: We thought it was pretty funny. (Not that there is anything wrong with it!)

Our server asked us if we were celebrating any special occasions over the cruise time period right after she Got to know us

I told the DCL CM that my friend would be celebrating her birthday the first night of our cruise. Then I basically forgot about a cake even though I decorated her stateroom door with birthday greetings. Believe it or not, when we had dinner that night, she was presented with a cake! I could not believe that they had remembered. I made the ressies a year before we actually sailed. DH is diabetic and they even brought him some cookies since he couldn't have the cake.

Just to clarify....the majority of the times they do remember which is the norm.....I was just saying in my other post that it is possible for them to overlook it sometimes.....so it does not hurt to remind them the first night (though in webray's case that didn't seem to matter! LOL!).

Out of 13 cruises we have had several B'day and anniversary celebrations in the dining rooms without a hitch....that one time they did forget, though.

Our TA had noted on our ressie that DH and DS were celebrating their birthdays. The first night our head waiter discreetly pulled me aside as we were getting up to leave dinner and asked me what night we wanted to celebrate the birthdays and did we want to do it together or on separate nights.
