Do you have to pay with cash without a dining plan?

This is probably a dumb question, but we don't have a dining plan. Do the restaurants, counter service etc all take credit cards or should I plan to carry enough cash to cover meals and snacks?

That's not a dumb question! They all take credit & debit cards. Even the snack kiosks accept cards. We never bring cash.

Also, if you are staying at a Disney resort, you can charge your meal on your KTTW card, as long as you have assigned charging privileges when you checked into the resort.

There are no dumb questions...

We never carry cash or credit cards in the parks -- we charge everything to our KTTW cards. If you lose cash it's gone forever, if you lose your credit card the replacement will probably get to you a week after you get home, but if you lose your KTTW card it can be replaced in a few minutes :goodvibes

Never use credit cards in Disney. It's best to use KTTW card. We used a credit card a few years ago in MK and it came back to haunt us a fews months later while we were dining out at a restaurant. Our credit card got rejected. DH made a call to the credit card company and found that someone used our credit card out in Tampa, Fl. Ever since that incident, we never used credit cards while out there. :surfweb::dance3:

:banana:Great! That's good advise to charge it to your KTTW card. Sounds good. Thanks.

Onlly 36 hours and we'll be on the road....:cool1: :yay:

We took cash (to avoid ATM fees) and put in on the KTTW card. It was great to get an exact print out as often as we wanted to track our purchases.

Have fun!

There are a very few stands that don't take credit cards or room charge so we usually try to bring $20 or so with us just in case. But yes, most all places will take a card.

You can pay in cash anywhere but that is a lot of cash to carry each day. perhaps a debit card or one of those prepaid debit cards and have your dining taken off it each time. or use travel checks:surfweb:

Cash. Credit Cards. Debit Cards. Disney Dollars. Disney Gift Cards. Traveler's Cheques. If staying at a Disney owned and operated resort you can use your room key to charge to your folio.

we always put cash on a gift card and charge anything we need to on that. It's easier than carrying cash and we get to see the balance each time there's a new charge to it.

that can happen anywhere ;)
It's always a risk to let a credit card out of your sight anywhere but I think with all the precautions the credit cards are putting in place now (I take credit cards in my business, so I know) it should not be so risky any more.

We like to have everything prepaid before we go, so that's what we do. We always carry enough Disney gift cards to pay for anything we might want and also use them for OOP meals, snacks, and gratuities. I like that I can check my receipts each night and they show me exactly how much I started with on the card, how much I spent, and how much is left.
