Do you have to mobile order?

Unless you have an extenuating circumstance – no phone, paying in cash, need allergy help – the highly encouraged way to order is via mobile order.

If you want to order at Woody’s Lunch Box please do so early . At 1:30 a guy was screaming at the cast member because there weren’t any times available and he wasn’t able to order at the register . He couldn’t find a restaurant that wasn’t mobile order . HS is heavily mobile order .

I'm here now, and it seems to vary by restaurant as to how "strict" they are. The ones in all the parks tend to be pretty strict. I had to show them my "Your order is ready" to get in to Satuli Canteen. At the resorts, Mara and Primo Platto didn't have anyone at the door, just went in and ordered at the register, like the "old" way.

I personally would highly suggest mobile ordering as it's going to be a vastly better experience likely for you than trying to walk up to a restaurant.

Had same experience last week at parks - they were not the least bit helpful with the ones who wanted to go in and order/pay with gift cards. They didn't enforce when we got Dole Whips etc but to avoid the LONG line I just mobile ordered for everyone.

You can pay for mobile order with gift cards. I believe originally you couldn’t, but I have been doing it since the parks reopened last year. The app doesn’t save the card, so you either need to manually enter it each time, or put the number in a note that can be copied and pasted to the app.

I have also found them to be more insistent in the parks. I don’t think their kitchens can handle all the mobile orders and a lot of people ordering at the cashiers, so they really work to keep the in person orders to a minimum.

Good to know. I was wondering if we would be forced to mobile order at Gasparilla Island Grill (Grand Floridian) and Captain Cooks (Polynesian).

They weren’t letting anyone in anywhere in the parks without showing your mobile order is ready on your phone
This is ridiculous, I was online with Disney Chat this morning stating how stressed I was at the thought of ordering online with my smartphone. Looking over menus on a small phone is crazy when my eyes occasionally cannot focus on such small print. She reassured me that I would be able to request a paper menu to order our food without the smart phone app. I also asked if it was true that there was not accepting cash as a form of payment. She also stated that this was not true. Cash is always accepted. So who do I believe?

Not mobile order related, but there is a caveat to "cash is always accepted". Marketplace stands at EPCOT. It's happened on several different trips that they were unable to accept cash at various stands because they could not give change or had register issues. If that happens, and you don't want to use a credit card or band, you can get a gift card at one of the shops.
