everyday dishes, special occasion dishes, and a cheap "party" set.

I don't, but I wish I had some Christmas dishes. Anyone know where I can get some nice Christmas dishes? I'd love some Christmas DISNEY dishes!

I have:
Every day dishes
Good China
Thanksgiving set - used to belong to my Mother - I use them the month of November.
Christmas dishes- use them the month of December.

Sing with me.......Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall. Same set of dishes for alllll. :cool1:

I have a set of Spode Christmas china for Christmas time, but other than that, we use our regular dishes.

I do have different sets......

Paper - daily use, but they are really good Dixie plates actually.
Regular set - Plain white that we use for nicer meals and guests
Nice China - we only look at this set.

I inherited a couple huge sets of Lenox from my great grandmother. I've actually never unpacked it because it's crated. Someday I'll sell them. I use the same Crate & Barrel earthenware year round and it shows it.

Couldn't love china more here!!! Let's see, how many sets...

My old everyday china - Amapola by Villeroy & Boch. I use it from Easter to Labor Day. Peach, purple and turquoise flowers.
My new everyday china - Evesham Gold by Royal Worcester. I use it from Labor Day to Easter, excluding Christmas. Fall colors, fruits and vegetables, with a gold rim.
My Christmas China - Cuthbertson Embossed. It's a Christmas tree like Spode, but with an embossed white on white decoration around the edge. We call it Cuthbertson Bumpy.
Also, I use a combination of Harlequin pottery (solid red center with green bands around the edge) and a Gail Pittman pattern (red and green swirls) for additional Christmas and winter china.

Those are the everydays, now for the "Goods" -

Lenox Solitaire. My wedding china. Still used occasionally, but more often I use...
Shelley Sheraton. Very frilly, pink and gold floral. I LOVE this china, and have collected several serving pieces over the years. I even have cream soup bowls with saucers.
A weird Japanese pattern called by a number. It's a lime green, floral on a cream background. It was my grandmother's, I think - not much of it remained. I have a few place settings.
And finally, a Wedgwood pattern, cream embossed fruit around the edges. I have just a few pieces of it - it was a step-grandmother's pattern that I always liked. It reminds me of my mother - she used it on Thanksgiving sometimes. I didn't inherit it, but I've bought a few pieces over the years.

I think that does it - although there's a new pattern I have my eye on, for summer suppers out on the patio. Maybe.......

I adore china!!!!!

Yes, I have 5 sets.

I don't bring them out just for special occasions as we use them regularly depending on the occasion or convenience. I read that once - your kids will feel special by using dinnerware you are "supposed" to use only on special occasions. We also almost always have dinner at the table unless we eat Subway sandwiches or something quick like it so it's a family thing for us.

I have Friendly Village/Johnson Brothers dishes inherited from my MIL which we use most often, Blue Willow that I love, and maroon and green sets of gold-rimmed Pyrex. Oops... forgot my Asian fish set which we use when we eat Chinese or Japanese food.

We have four sets.

Good china. We use this for holiday dinners, nice dinner parties, special occasions.

Everything else is everyday dishes.

A set for summer, a holiday set, and our regular everyday set for the rest of the year.

Do I have different sets of dishes? Oh brother! ::yes:: You have *no idea*! Friends sold 9 large sets for me on ebay this past year and there are still soooo many more. One of my grandmothers entertained formally *a lot* and left me tons of china, crystal and silver. I also inherited (as an only child) china from my other grandmother, great grandmother and my mom. DH could SCREAM! Oh, and I also buy things I like to add to all this chaos! :teeth: I absolutely adore china!!!!!!

:rotfl2: Not only do I get a hot chicken meal, but I get to eat it on your china too. Wow, I'm going to be in heaven.

i have 3 sets but use one more than the others. The most common are white, with blue stripe and rose flowers. Summer and Spring. My favorite set is the Fall looking. Tan with Sage green stripe and leaves around edges. Although these are my favorite, I don't use them as much since they are heavier and larger than average dishes and don't fit as well in the dishwasher. The other set I rarely use anymore because it's my oldest dishes. I also just bought a set of dessert plates for company that have a gold rim around them, because I always seem to run out of dessert plates.

::yes::

we have:

wedding china (whole 9 yards w/serving platters, coffee service...)
a set of dinner plates that have a holiday theme (got them for like 1.99 each at target after christmas one year)
a whole set (serving bowls, creamer/sugar bowl...) of some type of autumn looking-a friends mom died and he passed it on to us
a set of dinner platters, bowls and side plates that i got at the pfeltzgraff outlet when they would have sidewalk sales (1.99 per pc. vs 9.99 at department stores)-we rarely use them but because they are big and oval they are perfect for bbq and mexican meals so i won't get rid of them
a mixed collection of about 10 dinner plates (2 different patterns) that we use for everyday.

then of course there is the "classy" dinnerwear the kids prefer: hercules collector plate from mcdonalds, powerpuff girl plates from the easter bunny and "old spagetti factory" dinosaur kid meal plates from visits many years ago :rotfl:

(and don't get into my glasswear-we're still using warner brother's glasses from taco bell circa '1979.
