Do You Have Any Unusual Hobbies?

I was just wondering if any of you have any unusual or "strange" hobbies.

I have a couple that might be considered unusual...I enjoy taking photographs of old, abandoned houses and barns. I also like walking in cemeteries and taking photos of unusual or pretty gravestones. There is one in our local cemetery that is a small "log cabin." It's a child's grave, from the late 1800's I believe, and when she died her father made the stone and put all of her toys inside it, "so she would have things to play with up in heaven." I think the stones made today are so beautiful, with etchings on them, some in color, etc.

So, what strange or unusual hobbies do the rest of you have?

I can't think of any, but I thought I'd give this a bump for ya! :)

Ohhh I love old barns!

We have a hobby that some would think weird or odd or something:D . We show our dogs.....which I thought a bit strange until we started doing ourselves.

Not sure that counts...

I have a coal hole cover rubbing collection from britan. I'm an amature astronomer as well, though I don't think thats all that unusual. I'd love to know if there are any dark sky areas around wdw that are accessible at night for some Fla. viewing.

Nothing that I can think of, but I read the title of this thread as "Do you have any unusual hubbies?" :rotfl: :rotfl:

I have a hobby my husband thinks is strange... does that count? I collect fashion dolls. :) Apparently, I am too old for this sort of thing. However, I enjoy it, so... I collect them anyway.

And they are very pretty. Really. :teeth:

Me, too! Especially in Europe.

I don't know if mine are all the unusual. DH and I do renaissance faires, which a lot of people don't get. Other than that, it's just crafts and stuff.

I love taking pictures of the characters at WDW. I just think it's the coolest thing to find characters and get pictures of them- especially if they're one of my favorites or in an unusal place or unusual groupings. Not many people know about this though in my life outside the Disney corner of the internet. Other people might consider taking pictures of animated characters come to life odd.

I also collect dolls--But only Disney ones. I started collecting them about 10 years ago. My computer room is Tinkerbell-themed (still looking for Tinkerbell border!!!) and I have shelves all around the room with the dolls on them. Yes, I KNOW I'm a 35 year old woman, but they make me HAPPY!! I love going in there and just RELAXING! My family thinks I'm nuts (the voices tell me I'm not!)

I have a few unusal hobbies. My favorite one is collecting Disney Park Maps from each of the parks including overseas and putting them up in my den. I'm only missing one map, disneyland Paris, and I will have a complete set. I also collect Madam Alexander dolls which I have done since I was 10. My last hobby is collecting Barbie Ballerina Dolls. I get only the ballerina ones from each year and display them in my currio(sp?) cabinet.

My high school was across from a huge graveyard in Vancouver. The graveyard used to be on the edge of town in the 1900's. Now it is surrounded by houses for miles and miles. Anyway, I used to enjoy walking through it, it was so peaceful with beautiful mountain views, in fact, I believe it was called MountainView.

You have to be careful in the New Orleans cemetaries, as they have become popular with tourists, and now robbers hide among the tombstones and mausoleums.

I am too far away to walk in a cemetary now, but I did enjoy a cemetary visit when I was in Plymouth Massassachusetts. I don't do this: make etchings of tombstones but some people collect them as art.

I collect voltron toys and robot lions that come with them. I have been a voltron fan since I have been born. I collect voltron comic books. Have a website dedicated to voltron. Surf the net for voltron sites. I am the voltron boards. I am a voltron nut.

Nothing terribly unusual about mine.....just the regular kind of stuff that collects lots of dust:teeth:

DD and I collect things having to do with dragons and fairies.

DH & I are into geocaching. www.geocaching.com

Basically, it is using expensive global positioning technology (a GPS) to find tupperware in the woods! LOL

We are addicted. Our username is wandering4cache.
Great family or alone activity.
Check it out!

I refinish furniture. I go to second-hand stores or flea markets and get the most beat up small pieces. (stools and small cabinets mainly) I take them home and spend alot of time stripping, sanding, and then refinishing them. They usually become my gifts for the people who are hard to buy for. I never thought of it as an unusual hobby before but my hubby says everything I do is unusual so maybe it is. :teeth:

That sounds fun! I'd like to take that up if I weren't too lazy for a real hobby.

If collecting is a hobbie, then my strange hobbie is collecting self-adhesive bandages (you know, Band-Aids? but not just that brand)

I also collect Pez dispensers. A lot of people think that's weird, but it is actually a pretty popular thing to collect. I haven't bought any in a while (trying to de-clutter), but I just HAD to get the new "fuzzy friends" tonight when I saw them at Target. I got a cat and a dog... had to fight the urge to buy them all.

I also collected tin lunchboxes before it became a fad and they all started costing an arm and a leg. Now I just collect theme park tins.

CP2002-- why don't you go over to the Paris board and ask someone to mail you a map?

I like the Character photo collection idea. Every once in a while, I try to tackle the project of putting all my character photos together into one big collection, but I never follow through. I do try to take at least one character photo each time I go.
