Do you have any "rituals" you do at home or at work?

I have tons. :p

Two I can think of that I have to do:

When I get out of bed in the morning, on the way out of the bedroom I grab the birds' water dishes and take them with me to make sure the birdies get clean, fresh water every morning. If I forget, in my half awake/half asleep state I try to figure out what I've forgotten like, "I know I was supposed to do something, now what the heck was it?" :p

I have certain chores I do in order for my house to feel and look clean to me. Unless all those chores are finished, I won't light a Yankee Candle tart (2 actually). I guess that gives me incentive to do the chores or something. :confused3 :p

I do have a morning routine and if I forget to do something then I'm thrown off until I do it. From getting up to walking out the door there is an order that I do everything in. Weird I know but just a habit I got into.

my afternoon is very ritualistic
leave work
go to gym (if i feel like it of course)
come home
change clothes
hit the bathroom
wash my lunch dishes/coffee mugs from morning commute/any other dishes DH has left in the sink (unload dishwasher at this time if it needs it)
set up the coffee for the next day
make lunch for the next day
make dinner
eat dinner
clean dinner dishes
take dogger outside if she's antsy
sit down and relax - around 7:45/8pm

i once went to a mall about 20 minutes away from my house after work to pick up a particular mother's day gift...I felt like I was doing something 'illegal'...walking around the "nice" mall on a Wednesday night (instead of the 'crappy' mall near my house). I actually rushed home cause I felt like I was doing something wrong.

I'm so weird.

Work ritual:
Go to desk
Pull out files and papers
Spread files and papers strategically around desktop to look like "work"
Log onto the DIS
:p

Everyday when I come home from work I have a cup of hot tea (even if it is 100 degrees out). If I don't have my afternoon tea, I just don't feel right.

Tina! :p

Isn't it funny how we get into routines or rituals and things seem all out of whack if we do something different? :p

In one of my psychology courses (I can't believe I remember this, I hated psychology! LOL! ), I learned that rituals are an important part of life. I don't remember why though, I hope it was for good reasons. ;) :p

Yep! Get out of bed and head for the coffee maker.. then off to the shower, where I have an order of how I wash up. Won't go into details though! LOL

I'm usually the 1st one in to the office. Unlock the door, disable the alarm, check fax machine, then go into my office. If someone gets in before me so I don't do the same routine I feel like the whole day is off.

My ritual starts when I get to work. I log onto my AOL account to check my email (5 minutes) check my yahoo email (2 minutes) and log onto the DIS (atleast 2 hours!!!) :p

When I get on the DIS, I have to start out on the Community Board and then the Disney Cruise Forum, and then quickly glance and work my way off!!

Oh my, you made me realize that my whole day in day out is a ritual. I do the same things almost every day:

Get up, get ready, get the dogs out of bed - literally, I have to drag their little rears out of bed.

Go downstairs and give the dogs biscuits, get my lunch ready and leave for work.

Get to work, turn on my computer, go fill my water cup. An hour later (almost exactly every day) fix breakfast (just toast and a banana).

Have lunch - same time everyday, unless I have a meeting

Go home - grab mail, greet dogs, give dogs biscuits, make dinner, read, go to bed.

I need to shake things up a bit, what do ya think???

I am so on auto pilot for the first couple of hours in the morning everything I do is programmed.:D

I DIS!!!!:teeth: :bounce:

My rituals are all in the morning: Make coffee, turn PC on, feed the cats, make toast and get dressed.

Me too! I won't light any candles unless that particular room is clean. I feel like I can't enjoy it and I'm wasting it.

My routine in the a.m...wake up, let the dogs out, check news at cnn.com and check e-mail, take a shower, eat breakfast at computer (usually on DIS), then finish getting ready for work....

Wake up about 5:00 am, make a pot of coffee, head for my computer and DIS till it's time to get ready for work about 6:00.

Alarm rings at 5am
Lay in bed till 6am catnapping
Shower
Get lunch ready for work
Go to work at 7:45am
Get to my desk - turn on computer - login
Get cup of tea and chat with co-workers
Get back to desk and login to DIS
Keep DIS in background and open in sequence: emails, work program, check voice mail.
Check DIS every so often especially when programs are running
Have lunch with co-workers at 11:30 am
Repeat work/DIS
Go home at 5:30pm
Get home, change clothes, lie down for 1/2 hr
Make dinner (if I feel like it) if not, then power up laptop, and DIS
10pm, dump kids in bed
11pm watch news & Letterman up to Top 10
12am bed time.

Pretty routine.. boring life that I lead.

I do but I don't feel off if I don't do them.... I think...

I get up and turn on the iron (Can't iron at night, feel wierd. I think the clothes get wrinkling hanging during the night!!) Go in the bathroom, grabbing two towels that hang on the wall next to the door (if they aren't there and I have to go search it gets confusing), close door to bedroom and put towels next to shower. Turn on shower to hot and go to kitchen and feed the cats. Take shower.....defiently wash in the same order everyday... feels off if I don't!!! Sometimes I'll get out and start my day feeling "wierd" and realize I didn't wash my face or something. Until I get back in and do whatever I missed it doesn't feel right!!

That's probally the only thing I do that's ritual everyday. At night I HAVE to read before bed. Even if it's just five minutes because I am so tired. I can't relax unless I read in bed.... Sometime just a few minutes others, like last night, it can be hours!!

Doesn't anybody else have to play one game, just one, of like Free Cell or Marbles or something before they shut the computer off at night? :teeth:

wake up at 7
shower
make lunch
work at preschool 830-530
pick up 2 kids from preschool and babysit them till 8
come home
DIS
sleep
