You know, one of those jobs where at times you almost feel guilty getting paid, because there isn't always work for you to do?

The past couple of weeks, I've been doing approx. 30 mins of work on my 7 hour days!

The business I work for was once busy, but we make kitchen cabinets...so I'm sure you can understand why there's nothing to do.

It pays for my Disneyalnd trips though!

I'm a school nurse. As long as kids get runny noses & tummy aches I'll be in business.

I want one of those jobs. Is anyone hiring?

I only wish some days would be this way. Not always, but on occasion.
We are always busy, and more so at this time of year.

I'm a school nurse. As long as kids get runny noses & tummy aches I'll be in business.

One of my kids fell down the stairs today. He spent a while in the nurse's office. He's okay, but he's got a nice bump on his head. Don't ask me how he fell....I wasn't there (he was taking a paper to the office w/ a pass) but he did say it was an accident.

I'm a teacher; this week has been crazy busy with "assessment data" and other paperwork. :headache: I barely have enough hours in the day to get it done. I've been at the school from 7-5 each day AND bringing work home! Thank goodness not ALL the weeks are like this!

Thank goodness I only work part-time, b/c I'd go nuts if I didn't have anything to do for 8 hours straight. My job has been VERY slow for the past month. I'd say I'm doing about 2.5 hours of work out of 4.

At times swamped and at times totally dead.
I look at it this way. I don't get paid for what I do, I get paid for what I might have to do.

I am a teacher and would love to have a day like that!! I can't even get to the bathroom!! :scared1:

My job is full of start and stop and start and stop.

I can work for a few hours, come to an impass waiting for answers, then when the answers come in, I'm insanely busy again.

I'm a teacher too. I didn't pee today until 3:30!
Althought these swamped days are overwhelming and crazy, I do love how fast the days fly by.

I had a job like that once. But I didn't like it because I was always worried they would let me go since one of these days they'd notice I didn't have much work to do. They did eventually let me go but not because I wasn't busy, they sold the business and the new owners were bringing in all their own people.
At my current job I'm busier than I can handle most days and I don't love that either but at least I'm not worried they are going to let me go!

4 hours a day I have NOTHING to do.... but those other 4 are insanely busy most days....

Why do you think I'm on the DIS so often? Have nothing to do at work right now! But, when I do have work to do, I do it extremely well. So, no fear of being fired (unless the whole department gets shut down, which I don't think is very likely).

Sometimes I'm painfully bored and wonder why they don't just pay me to stay home and get things done there.

my job is slow 99 percent of the time- we have cable tv and a dvd player in the locker room that we sit in and watch and a big tv in the lunch room we can hang out and watch. We do a lot of hanging out, talking, reading etc while waiting for things to do. The only day that is really busy is wednesday when paychecks come out LOL.

I'm a teacher (developmental Kindergarten and pre-K) and never have a spare second. I have to write "GO TO THE BATHROOM" on my list of things to do, or I'll forget to go during my one break, and then get a bladder infection.

But in the eyes of many of my friends (and even some of my students' parents), I get paid to sit around and play all day.

Somedays i have more than I can do. Sometimes I have to look for things to do, but there is usually some busy work to catch up on that I didn't have time to do on the busier days.

Sept is slow in my line of work, that's why my post count is so high. :rotfl:

Keeping the attention of 44 nine and ten year olds all day is anything but slow.
