Do you have a name you call your GPS?

I called mine Mustang Sally, but eventually shortened it to just Sally. Then I got a new GPS and DD didn't think it was right to call that one by the same name so I changed it to something I can't remember. I've gone back to Sally. No offense to anyone PLEASE, but my mom and dad, who spend a lot of time with my uncle, refer to his as "the blonde".

DD named ours Jane & she has a "history". As the story goes...Jane has been locked away in an office building for 3 years giving directions...awaiting her replacements. She's overworked & underpaid.

My 10 year old named our GPS FRED, which is short for Finding Roads Every Day. DH has told FRED to "drop dead" on several occasions.

Gosh -- I guess we're not so very inventive with names either -- we simply call ours Tom. :thumbsup2 (It's a TomTom of course.) (Even though we use a woman's voice. :lmao:)

We rarely use a GPS, but we used the Mapquest app on my phone while we were at WDW. We called her Gertrude! Gerty for short. My kids loved how she would pronounce Sassagoula and Buena Vista! LOL!
We had to use it once recently and my kids and I got so emotional because her voice just reminded us of being at WDW!

Our GPS has earned the name Delilah (De-LY-la) as in the song "Hey There Delilah". She often has lied to us and that is one of my favorite songs...it stuck. Didn't know so many other people actually named their GPS's, funny ;-)

Wellllll.... we call ours something that rhymes with witch... She was named "Witch" in the box after quite a trying evening I had with her. She drives a monster truck and has a British accent. When the kids are around she has no name.

OMG - I can't believe other families do this too! :rotfl2: We call ours "Karen". It's actually the name in the settings assigned to the voice. She has an Australian accent.

One day, while driving in the car with my mom, I turned on the GPS and Karen started giving directions. My son piped up from the back sat and excitedly said, "Ooo, Karen is here Nanny (my mom)". My mom looks around the car, then at me and says, "Who the heck is Karen?" We still laugh about it

we call ours Tom. It's the pre-programmed name that goes with the voice choice, it was the only one that all of us could stand for long drives without wanting to throw it out the window, LOL!

I think the other choices were: Jill, Bob, Ian, Julie and a couple of others and a few different accents (one was french, one was british, one was english, one was australian). DD liked the one with the australian accent but, he got on my nerves.

We have a strip club near us called Mustang Sally's, so the GPS won't be getting that name :rotfl:

My mother calls hers Marjorie Map.

Our Panasonic that just died was called Sharpay b/c she was so irritating. We just got a new TomTom and can't settle on a new name. I like "Tink" but my 9 year old DS does not agree :)

I'm sure if I typed what dh calls ours it will be bleeped out...I changed it to the British accent and he flipped.

Originally I wasn't a GPS guy. Would check the maps before leaving for the day and had all the routes memorized (photographic memory).
A few years back we spent a week in Miami and on day 3 I broke down and picked up a 7" Magellan (Miami is just crazy to drive in)
At first it was just "the GPS" but it got me out of so many jams that it quickly became a he called Gee.
DW and I love Gee and now take him on all our trips. If I'm familiar with the area we still have Gee up and running but I usually just have the volume muted.
Nice to see Gee agrees with my route choices (and if not he just recalculates in silence :D

We call ours Joan, after my sister-in-law. She likes to tell people where to go.
